Any Difference Buying Phone In Bkk Or Upcountry?

Featured Replies

I'm in Chiang Mai at the moment, and want to buy a Nokia 1280 mobile phone, which sells for 200 baht cheaper than in Bangkok, where I live. Does it make any difference -- in terms of warranty, servicing, any problems with the phone, etc. -- where I buy the phone?

Also, is it common for such phones to be cheaper upcountry than in Bangkok, or should I be suspicious? Should I buy only from a big supplier like Telewiz, or is a reputable-looking, no-name shop okay? As long as it's in a new upopened box, it should be okay, right?

Thanks.

It looks like the MSRP here is 720 baht, and some box shops sell it for as little as 600 baht.

Only you can make the trade-offs between price and potential issues. If you concerned then just buy it at a Nokia store, or Jaymart. As long as the warranty card is in the box, and it shows Nokia Thailand as the warranty repair agent you should be fine.

Thank you for that. i-Mobile is a reputable shop, right? It's selling there in Chiang Mai for only 590 baht.
