Thanks. What i am looking for is similar to the cusinart one on the sponsors page. Only.. in australia you can get something like this for about $20 (kmart brand) or about $50 - george foreman brand etc. Not spending 10,000 baht on one!

The invade it - thats not what i want. Thats a grill, not a health grill. A health grill is like a sandwich toaster it heats top and bottom and it presses into the meat to get the fat out

"Health" grill - roflmao

Huh? grilled food not healthy?

-

Yes, charred animal flesh is definitely not healthy.

If it's that important to you then pay whatever it takes, don't expect to get whatever whacko consumerist scam product available back home at the same price here.

idiotHow about this then - what you choose to eat is far more significant than the device you use to cook it. If you take a high-fat cut of red meat, or god forbid something like sausage or hamburger, using one of these devices to cook it will not appreciably increase your lifespan. Also, if you're using it to cook a piece of fish that's healthy to start with what's the difference? If you are that concerned about the deadly consequences of eating animal fat, I'm suggesting you simply stop eating it, or eat less of it.Or, on the other hand, if the incremental health advantage you perceive is actually that important to you, then investing a little bit extra to compensate for the fact that you're in a country where these products don't have much of a market and are therefore much more costly than they are back home should be well worth it to you.The amount of money you're talking about wouldn't even buy a single meal for a family at one of the better steak houses in town, so what's the problem?Or if you're really skint, a traditional BBQ - true "grill" over a flame will do the job just as well and be MUCH cheaper.Really, I'm trying hard to help you here.

The reason he asked the question is he wants one i think.

The GF i have has a thermostat and can cook veggies, fish, pork, chicken, its never cooked red meat because i read the papers as well.

But thanks for info.

the George Forman one drains the fat as it cooks unlike the other ones. I used to have one but the teflon is gone now. If anyone knows where pm me as I have seen them in thailand but cannot remember if at big c or tesco.

Seems like every post on TV seems to get over-run with know-everything-about-nothing farangs who are looking for any opportunity to offend, brag, show off their knowledge about nothing. I really dont get it. I mean i understand why these types wash up here.. but why not more nice people? Thailand is a wonderful place.

Back to the grills... it really, actually is a griddle.. not a "grill". They are called health grills apparently. They were introduced to consumer market by George Foreman, the first one called "lean grilling machine".. OK it doesnt actually grill. It doesnt burn flesh like a BBQ or open flame does. It squishes the meat and drains some of the fat out, more so than a regular "grill" that doesnt contact the meat and just lets some of the fat drip out... "Health grills" , remove more fat.. this makes it more healthy for those who think they are having too much animal fat in their diet. Yes, the food doesnt taste quite as nice meat dripping with fat. Lets just call it a meat toaster smile.png Yes i want one! No im not paying 10,000 baht for one when they are available for less elsewhere. Not a case of being cheap.. just not being stupid. If push comes to shove ill buy one on my next overseas trip or have someone send me one, but would be more convenient to buy one here. Hopefully this post doesnt strike any more chords of meat-cooking-envy with any more sociopathic farangs and nobody suggests I should fly half way around the world to buy one or eat at five star steak houses ever day as a viable alternative.

Hope that clears it up!

It is relatively healthy compared to the local alternatives like frying etc.

Plus its TV so all the minions and trolls are looking to score some easy criticism points.

Hey scrawny hater vegetarians come ruin someone else's experience because they can't eat bacon.

Some of the newer microwaves also have grills using heat elements and they come with raised racks so the fat drips off.

Really no reason to avoid fat provided its sourced well and not grain fed.

Eating low fat diet is pretty misinformed because there are a lot of healthy fat sources. Eating low fat and higher carbs and thats a poorly researched strategy for good health.

Yup, I agree with all that. On the other hand, there isnt really any health benefit in eating a LOT of animal fat.. especially if you are trying to lose some weight. Ive done high protien, low carb diets for weight loss several times. I know i need to make more permanent changes to my diet - but ive been very sucessful losing weight by eating less fat but the diet I have chosen for the moment means i need a lot of protien which means ill be eating a lot of meat. Not sensible to eat too much fat

I see nothing qrong with eating some meat with excess fat removed. Laugh of you likie but I also had a GF grill at one point.

Yes, some fats are good and saturated fat is not so good, especially for the likes of myself who prduce too much cholesterol in the first place.

Each to their own, I see no reason for knocking someone who likes to do it their way and eat the food they prefer.
