I'm thinking of buying a Saab 900 and/or a Volvo 850.

Anybody know if there are problems with Saab parts and service in Bangkok? I expect higher costs.......

Any suggestions for Saab mechanics?

Any suggestions for Volvo mechanics?

About how much does it cost to convert an 850 to LPG?

Thanks!!

There are two authorised Saab dealers in Bangkok. One on Petchaburi Road and the other in Pinklao. They do charge!

I had an NG900 and loved it, but in the end it was just too expensive to run.

Converting to LPG when i last checked started about at 20,000 baht, but it depends a lot on what system you install and where you have it done.

Thanks. I didn't realize Saab dealers still existed!

The one in Pinklao is mainly Chevy, in fact the showroom is only Chevy, but the service centre is also Saab. Try googling Auto Technic Bangkok.

There are three good Volvo repair shops in Bangkok. One almost Nontaburi but this side of the river and the other two in or near Samut Prakan. The "Nontaburi" one is more expensive but they warranty their work. One of the Samut Prakan ones only works in the evenings as the mechanics are Volvo guys moonlighting.

If you decide on a Volvo I can delve into emails and private messages to "remember" exactly where they are and what they are called. Alternatively you could search the forum as I may have replied to this already.

Thanks for the information. I'll do a search. Are the dealers well overpriced? I live close to Lumpini park and I think there is one close by.

You could be terribly wrong there.

So you don't think it looks like a funeral car?

I have driven an 850. But you're avoiding the question: you don't think it looks like a funeral car?

Weeeeeell, sorry stevenl, but l do not understand your point, BUT, if pictures are better for you then the first three are funeral cars and the last three are very fast Volvos. Hope you will sleep OK now, now you know the difference.

Been in one on the Chonburi Motorway on the high side of 200 kph. Not that fast in itself but most other road users aren't going that fast shock1.gif

That maybe the key? No one expects it to go that fast!

I've been to UK. Brits know that in the day you could be pulled over for speeding on the motorway by two guys in a Range Rover. They didn't look very fast eithersmile.png

Actually it's the opposite with the Volvo in the UK. They always seem to be in the fast lane. smile.png
