Former comrades of the Burma Communist Party and their offspring are locking horns over a plot of land granted to them more than 55 years ago, the Bangkok Post reported on Sunday. The disputed plot of land, in Dekkhinathiri Township in Naypyidaw, was part of a settlement area the Burmese government granted the Communist Party members to convince them to end their political activities. A son of a deceased party leader built a shop on a site designated for a library, which has led 37 other families to object. The 390-square-meter plot is currently worth 300 million kyat (US $340,000).
