[Myanmar] Google Adds Burmese Language To Search Engine

Featured Replies

The Google search engine now recognizes Burmese language fonts, Eleven Myanmar reported on Monday. The search engine began recognizing Myanmar 2, Myanmar 3 and Myanmar Padauk fonts earlier this month, as part of Google’s push to improve Internet access in the country. The expanded service follows a visit to Rangoon by Google’s executive chairman Eric Schmidt, who spoke to a crowd of about 500 students and advocated Internet access as a tool for promoting reform. Google also launched the domain www.google.com.mm for Burma’s Internet users late last month.
