The Smiths, There is a Light that Never goes out.

Joy Division, Love will Tear us Apart.

Richard Ashcroft, Into the Brave New World. (I hope I see you on the other side)

Average White Band, Tower of Power.

More Kante, Yeke Yeke, (hard floor mix.)

B-mex (Sasha) Apolonia.

Sorry theres so many but, I can't choose one, there would be more too. I'd like hours of music that typifies me. Ending on a real happy note with loads of dance and disco. All this instead of people crying and giving speaches they can hardly say.

Ps; good thread.

"Always look on the bright side of life." Monty Python.. who else for me???

I have already prepared it!!

Hope its a way off yet!!

Brilliant!

I would want

American Pie

then

One night in Bangkok - as my coffin exits through the curtain as somebody places a 500THB note on it and says, "Pay the bar"

Dem good ole boys were drinking whisky and rye

Singing THIS WILL BE THE DAY THAT I DIE

I DID IT MY WAY

And now, the end is near;

And so I face the final curtain.

My friend, I’ll say it clear,

I’ll state my case, of which I’m certain.

I’ve lived a life that’s full.

I’ve traveled each and ev’ry highway;

And more, much more than this,

I did it my way.

Regrets, I’ve had a few;

But then again, too few to mention.

I did what I had to do

And saw it through without exemption.

I planned each charted course;

Each careful step along the byway,

But more, much more than this,

I did it my way.

Yes, there were times, I’m sure you knew

When I bit off more than I could chew.

But through it all, when there was doubt,

I ate it up and spit it out.

I faced it all and I stood tall;

And did it my way.

I’ve loved, I’ve laughed and cried.

I’ve had my fill; my share of losing.

And now, as tears subside,

I find it all so amusing.

To think I did all that;

And may I say - not in a shy way,

No, oh no not me,

I did it my way.

For what is a man, what has he got?

If not himself, then he has naught.

To say the things he truly feels;

And not the words of one who kneels.

The record shows I took the blows -

And did it my way!

what a bunch of tossers...wanting popular music at a funeral

for my own taste and to respect those that will come to see me off with the solemnity that the occasion deserves

the second movement of J.S. Bach's Violin Concierto in E minor (cant remember the BVW number)

the second movement is a dirge with a distinct musical passage that will allow my wicked soul into heaven

when my mother died in Cochabamba there weren't no music...I hummed it on the way to the graveyard

Agreed with LaoPo Queen - "Who wants to live forever?"

Agreed with Redrus, I'd hate to see crying ppl to my funeral (uncertain if I'll be able to see :o ) so I'll make sure to leave enough money for my funeral and for a good piss up party on my will

Ditto Rus and itsme. No cryin' and sorrow at my funeral. Have a good time or don't come at all. I'll leave money for the party. I'll be hangin' around somewhere, though. Most westerners wouldn't be able to see me but I suspect I might be glimpsed by some of the Thais. :D

Great selection of songs by all. And that includes the two other similar threads of last year by Jai Dee and Mr. Thomas Merton. I never thought about it before but if I have a Thai funeral (which it appears I will) I'll need to come up with a week's worth of music! :D Still not enough time to cover every song I love.

Even though it's been done before, good topic!

Should be reasonably non-morbid, but also a celebration of some of my favourite music, focusing on insturmentals.

White Hot - Red Rider (The version with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra)

Pachelbel's Canon in G - Full orchestration with a bias toward the strings

Piper's Lament - With a live piper if possible.

Take The A Train - Duke Ellington

Theme From A Summer Place and Theme From Moulin Rouge - Percy Faith Orchestra

Rebel Rouser - Duane Eddy (An extended Duane Eddy mix would be nice)

Carmen - Herb Alpert

Stranger On The Shore - Aker Bilk

I have not thought about that tune in 25 years. I remember it now you mention it :D

Aker used to wear a bowler hat and a striped waistcoat as I recall

Beautiful tune.....but guaranteed to get the tears rolling :o
