Older Gent Wants To Stay 1 Year, best Visa

Featured Replies

hi,i have a gent who would like to stay in LOS for 1 year, what would be the best option for him. he is 65 retired. any advice please, thank you.

UK? 12 month multi entry Non-immigrant O from Hull consulate. Visa run every 90 days.

  1. Visiting Thailand as Pensioner aged 65 and over.

Evidence required:

  1. Bank Statement or Pension Statement showing receipt of State and/or
    Private Pension.

Either a single or multiple entry visa can be granted in these circumstances.

can he come in with a one way ticket,or does he have to have an outgoing flight. i dont think they do 1 year open anymore,do they???

As long as he has a Visa a one way ticket will be OK

The above Multi Entry Visa means him leaving Thailand every 90 days.

He might prefer arriving with a single entry Non Imm O Visa and extending at Immigration for 12 months.

He would then have to report to Immigration every 90 days and not leave the country.

Whatever suits him.

2.22 In the case of a retiree: Permission will be granted for a period of not more
than 1 year at a time.
(1) The alien has obtained a temporary visa (NON-IM);
(2) The applicant is 50 years of age or over;
(3) Proof of income of not less than Baht 65,000 per month; or
(4) Account deposit with a bank in Thailand of not less than
800,000 Baht as shown in the bank account for the past 3 months at the filing date of the application. For the first year, the applicant should have that amount in his bank account for not less than 60 days or
(5) Annual income plus bank account deposit totaling not less
than Baht 800,000 as of the filing date of application

Or if he has the time he could obtain a non immigrant O-A visa from Embassy in London allowing a one year stay on entry - but that would require proof of 800k in bank account or 65k per month pension plus medical/police clearance paper.

thank you very much,i will pass on the info to him

He is entitled to apply for a single entry Non Imm O Visa.

This would give a 90 day stay.

He is also entitled to apply for a multi entry Non Imm O Visa.

This would give unlimited entries for a year with a max of 90 days each entry.

Giving a maximum stay of up to 15 months.

There is no such thing as a 3 entry Non Imm O Visa.

Being over that age, at that Consulate, allows issue of visa with proof of pension. There is no amount requirement. But he seems to have misunderstood as the visa valid for one year would be multi entry allowing only 90 days on each entry.

Yes. Receiving a State Pension will be enough.

He will have to leave Thailand every 90 days and return again.

If and when Hull Consulate change their requirements in the future is anyone's guess.

That 800k in an overseas Bank Account, and applying for a non immigrant O-A visa from Embassy located outside Thailand, does that 800k have to be 'seasoned' as it does in Thailand?

What is acceptable?

I have a Thai Consulate in Australia in mind.

Thanks in Advance.

.

You only apply where you live so unless your home or resident country Embassy can not issue. Money does not have to be in Thailand and there is no time in account requirement - but you will need a medical and local police check.

LB3 ... thanks for the quick reply.

I'll get onto the 'medical and local police check.'

.

Also be aware that only the embassy in Canberra or consulate in Sydney can do the OA visa. The others are honorary consulates and cannot issue them.
