[Myanmar] Chen Guangcheng’S Nephew Denied Medical Parole

Featured Replies

A relative says the imprisoned nephew of Chinese activist Chen Guangcheng is suffering from appendicitis and prison officials have denied his application for medical parole. Chen Kegui was convicted in November of attacking officials who stormed his home to search for his uncle in what has been seen as retaliation by local officials angered by his uncle’s daring escape from house arrest. A prison medic has told the family that Chen was suffering from appendicitis that worsened and was being treated with antibiotics. Chen Kegui is serving a three-year-three-month sentence. His uncle is now in the US.—AP
