[Myanmar] Chin Homes Torched In India’S Mizoram State

Around 40 homes owned by ethnic Chin refugees from Burma were burned down earlier this week in India’s Mizoram State, according to a report by the Khonumthong news agency. The houses, in the village of Saikhumphai, were set on fire by around 100 residents of the neighboring village of Vaphai, who allegedly used bottles of kerosene to reduce the houses to ashes, local sources said. Despite the involvement of the mob, Saikhumphai residents said they believed the attack was directed by the Vaphai village authority, after 11 families were found to be living in the village without Indian ID cards.
