PHUKET: -- After previous editions in Cairo, Delhi, Manila, Sao Paulo and Buenos Aires, the World Buffalo Congress will this year make its way to Thailand, where Phuket will host the triennial event at the Hilton Phuket Arcadia Resort and Spa in Karon from May, 6 to 8.

More than 500 participants from 35 countries are scheduled to attend the event, which this year will be held under the theme “Green Production Against Global Warming”.

“The conference’s main objective is to discuss and exchange scientific and technology information and opinions in regards to the study and breeding of buffaloes,” Dr Rangsan Parnpai, president of the International Buffalo Federation (IBF), explained at a press conference earlier this week.

“It is also great chance to build connections between buffalo researchers throughout the globe,” he said.

“While many people know Phuket as city full of tourist destinations, Phuket was originally dependent on the agricultural sector,” Dr Prapha Kayee, director of Phuket Rajabhat University, explained.

“The Buffalo Congress will create awareness about the importance of buffaloes and agriculture. I believe that we can benefit and learn the value of agricultural tourism from this event,” she said.

Now that is quite interesting. I read an article not long ago where these global warming alarmists were saying bovine farts was one of the main causes of global warming. Maybe these buffaloes are equiped with fart catchers.

Will there be any farang entrants?

Yes, then you will be arrested for stealing a job from a Thai!

My lady will be there to represent our buffs, they are a top animal and not as dumb as some of the people I know!

Of varying meatiness, led around by a nose-ring on a rope by their pretty, beaming owners. Best In Show receives a blue sash and a trough of Chang.

"More than 500 participants from 35 countries are scheduled to attend the event" Are we talking about 2 legged or 4 legged participants?
