Nine Rohingyas from a displacement camp in Arakan State who were arrested last month over an altercation with Burmese authorities will be prosecuted for starting a riot, DVB reports. The state’s attorney general, Hla Thein, said the accused will appear in court on May 26 on charges of rioting and assaulting a government official. On April 26, Burmese officials compiling a list of people displaced by last year’s communal clashes faced angry crowds at two camps who refused to be labeled “Bengali,†the government’s official designation for the Rohingya. One army officer was hospitalized after the incident.
