I've finally got my own laptop computer and down loaded some of the thousands of pictures I took last winter while in Thailand. Do I have to put them in some storage place like Photobucket or can I down load them straight from my computer into a topic? I've resized them so the files aren't too big.

I'm slowly trying to learn the new Windows 8 program. What a pain that is. My friend's computer That I borrowed while I Thailand had Windows 7 and it worked quite well. Why did they need to change something that wasn't broken?

- Hit 'reply to topic' or select 'more reply options' if using the quick reply option.

- Scroll down and under the reply box you will see 'attach files'

- Click the button 'choose files' and follow the instructions

- when the image has uploaded, you can enter it into the post by clicking "insert image" (or something similar)

Yep do as Totster says, just put the re sized images in a folder you can find or use for uploading... I call mine TV uploads... just watch you put them there or it's a big hunt~ !blink.png biggrin.png

I have not used that method for a while because my computer is so full ..... and you have the larger and smaller photo on the same hard drive.

That is what I do like about Picasa is it also works as a back up..... but you cannot move pics around on Picasa once you post or they disappear on TV... w00t.gif

Thank you for your replies. Now all I have to do is figure out how to operate Windows 8 and not get stuck in some weird application if I accidentally touch some key. I'm reduced to using the hunt and peck method of typing in fear of touching the wrong key. WHAT A PAIN THAT IS!!!

As you have thousands of photos of Thailand I sincerely hope it it very difficult and time consuming.tongue.png

Yes, it is time consuming but not so difficult. I learned a long time ago about sorting out files so you can find them again.

I trust from your remark that you don't want me to post many pictures. You can rest assured that, that won't happen any time soon. If I learn how to operate Windows 8 within the next century I might get up and running.

Erase your current OS, since you have a new laptop, nothing's lost.

Install Ubuntu while you still have the chance.

As said before, it's possible to upload directly. But still I recommend using for example Picasa for that purpose.

Benefits:

- Automatic upload, when syncing albums. Just add an image to the album and upload starts

- Images are uploaded with smaller size (2048x2048px), not the original (if not wanted). Faster upload speed

- Sharing images to various sites or forums is easy once the images are uploaded to picasaweb

- Shared images are reduced automatically to pretty good size (200px to 800px)

- Easy to do small modifications to the pictures. Crop, colors, etc

- Easy to find and see all images on the computer

And the images put to picasaweb or other photo sharing sites do look better on this forum as the attached images are shown only as little thumbnails. I rarely click the images to see the full resolution photos.

If you are struggling with Windows 8 on a laptop, try using a mouse, it calms things down a lot compared to using the touch pad. Also have a look at W8 tutorials on youtube, you will be up to speed in no time.
