PTT to develop eco-forest on Rayong industrial estate
The Nation

Rayong is the biggest home to industrial plants in Thailand. Industrial activities are deemed the main polluter, but PTT and the province are trying to change that perception.

At Asia Industrial Estate, Vanarom Park was recently opened. Serving as a buffer zone for PTT Group's industrial complex, the park is designed to be an exemplary green area where everyone can learn about plants and the ecosystem. It encompasses an eco-forest, with over 4,000 local trees grown by government officials, students, and the PTT Group's employees.

PTT president Pailin Chuchottaworn said that through the 5-rai park, PTT aims to create an eco-forest. From 5 rai, the forest will be extended to cover the 165-rai area surrounding the industrial estate. By inviting local communities to join in the forestation efforts, the group hopes to raise awareness of environmental conservation. The green fence will also ensure peaceful coexistence between industrial activities and the community.

He noted that the eco-forest concept would also be replicated in other areas of Rayong, through training for local schools. PTT will also advise the schools on the allocation of land for green areas, where students can learn about the ecosystem.

The park is part of PTT's "Eco IZ", a project to develop the eco-friendly industrial development. Covering a total of 1,500 rai, Eco IZ is designed to house industrial plants and present solutions for communities and the environment.
