computer monitor greening solarizing

Featured Replies

I recently returned to my house in Thailand after a couple of months, plugged in my Samsung monitor to my PC, and after around an hour the screen started to solarize green (for shadows) and stays that way until an overnight nap, when it does it again.

Had no problems before I left. What's up?

Is this a flat screen or CRT? Flat screen using analog (vga) or digital (hdmi) connection?

Have you tried cleaning the display connectors at both ends? Or at least reseating them?

It's a flat screen LCD Syncmaster. Was getting much better, on all am with no probs, then left it for 10 minutes, screen turned black and monitor light flashed. Turned it off, logged off and left it and ... back to solarizing. Bugger. I'd blown all the cables with a hairdryer to clean dust/remove possible moisture yesterday evening, all to no avail, and hey presto, thing righted itself after an hour or so.

When left overnight it's fine the next day, but can solarize when left and nothing seems to fix it until yet another overnight nap. At a loss to figure out what's wrong, very temperamental ermm.gif

Could be one of 1,000,000 things, but I'll put money on a leaky capacitor somewhere, not something you can fix yourself unless handy with a soldering iron and have some knowledge where to look.

Take a photo of it doing it, then trot to down to your local Amorn Service (with monitor and photo), they will likely know which bits to change.

QED.
