Double DIN Adapters for common Tablets- In dash GPS.

Featured Replies

Probably in the wrong forum, but what I really want is a GPS with a bigger screen than the Garmin's available in Thailand, without spending an arm and a leg for a built-in unit. Does anyone make a double DIN size adapter that will hold any common pads like Samsung, IPad, etc?

I'd gladly take out my car radio (Single DIN size) and the little compartment below it (taking up the other half of the double DIN cutout) if I could replace it with a good in-dash GPS unit or an adapter that would hold a tablet. I have an old Bluetooth GPS antenna/sender (Garmin) from the days when I used a Palm Pilot with Garmin GPS adaptation, so it's not critical that the tablet be high enough for a good signal.

Or should I just suck it up and buy a Thai in dash GPS, and if so, which one and how much?

Or, as another option, I could put a tablet on top the dash with one of those ubiquitous suction cup holders?

Open to suggestions since I'm new to aftermarket auto stuff in Thailand. Prefer suggestions from folks that have actually done what they suggest, but all ideas welcome.

I can't help you with the double DIN adapter. Placing a tablet on the dashboard would probably obstruct your view through the windscreen too much and thus reduce safety.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place
