Notice to an employee during probation period

Featured Replies

Hello Everyone

I know, this is a question for a,just wanted to have a idea about what you guys think

If one was to terminate an thai employee efter a few weeks into the contract. What would the notice period be?

Is it still 30 days?

Thanks in advance

got answer elsewhere. Seems its still 30 days.

Isn't there an automatic probation period of 30 days, during which either party can cancel the employment contract without having to give a reason?

Force them to quit. And most probation in thailand is 90-120days. Well at least the jobs my friends get.

One thing i do like about owning a company in the states is i can get rid if an employee for any reason i want in the first 90 days and they cant do nothing about it. Lol

I was told that the probation is three months and can be extended by another three months in writing (employee has to sign). I am not a lawyer, so please don't believe me but check with somebody who knows the law.

I don't think it's a funny in any way if someone gets fired. It's a measure of last resort, if everything else (such as training) failed.

What is the jobless rate in the US versus Thailand? Over here, we actually want to keep the staff because it is difficult to find people. So, if we really have to let someone go, we think hard. Sometimes we have to, because they damage the company (willingly or not). Some people just don't fit into the company's culture, but it is still not a laughing matter and no need to feel "lol" about it if they can't do anything about it.
