New Thailand - Vietnam Airlines to be established

Bangkok, 27 June 2013, (NNT) More than 200 million baht will be pouring into the establishment of Thailand - Vietnam airline, in their bid to boost tourism and investment in preparation for the upcoming ASEAN Economic Commnunity (AEC) in 2015.

Kan Airlines CEO, Captain Sompong Suksanguan, revealed that his company and Vietnam's Viet Jet Airways would form a new airline 'Thai Viet Jet Air', in which the Thai company will hold 51% of the shares, leaving the remaining 49% to the Vietnamese partner.

According to Captain Sompong, the new airline will provide services in both international and domestic routes, underlining its affordable and safety features.

He said that initially the airlines would offer 2 daily trips from Bangkok to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, beginning next year. The Kan Airlines CEO speculate that it would use Suvannabhumi Airport as its operation base.

The Captain said that the move would significantly stimulate tourism and investment in the two nations, raising competitiveness in the AEC era. The new airline's fleet would consist of 3 airbus A 320 airplanes.

I smell another flop of an airline coming and follow in the tracks of: Happy Air, Solar Air, Sunny Airlines, Air Andaman, Air Phoenix, Angel Air, Crystal Thai Airlines, Destination Air, PB Air, Phuket Airlines, Thai Pacific Airlines, U Airlines, R Airlines, PC Air, Thai Sky Airlines, Sky Eyes etc...... Lots of rich Asian boys want to wear the "I own an airline" hat, very few make it. I also love all the creative and ingenious names and motto's they come up with. Orient Thai used to have the motto, " Sky No Limit" and now use "Do it by Heart" (guess that means they don't need checklists). Wonder if these owners ever bothered to ask a native English speaker their opinion on naming their companies???

No thanks, I'll stick with Qatar airways

You probably know the answer to that question already without any serious "wondering" on your part. biggrin.png

Did a quick search and after the fees were added in it was a 4,100B BKK -> Ha Noi for travel in late August.

Air Asia with all fees except baggage 2,640 baht for last week in August, but Sat 31 Aug 1,290 all in if you're quick.

Be the change that you wish to see in the world.

Looks like Qatar doesn't do Bangkok to Saigon anymore (they still do Hanoi), but Lufthansa is now an option to Saigon.

Ye hard to beet Air Asia but when they advertise their specials in the paper I find it impossible to get them when I check on line. I recall some time back someone reported this and spoke to Air Asia office and the person admitted it was bull shit they do it to get people on the web.
