my passport is full, so I go to the embassy, get a new one.

With the new one (and the old one which is not valid anymore) I go to the imigration office, let them move the stamps and the paper to the new one.

Is that right?

I've done it three times since I've been here and that is correct. I was also supplied a letter from the embassy (US) to give to immigration.

I assume you have had the (US) embassy insert 24 new pages the 3 times they will do so before getting a new passport?

I see your point. He indicated about getting a new passport and answered to that without realizing he is just wanting to add pages. In that case no immigration visit is needed since the old passport is still valid. Did that one time (add pages).

now I have new passport and need to make the changes at the immigration.

Do I need to go to "my" immigration or can I take any?

I have just a tourist visa and would like to go to pattaya instead to bkk, is that possible?

I have always used the local office in my town, Si Racha,

but anywhere should do. All offices are on-line now.

They just stamp in the new passport with the detail of the old passport and visa.

No charge, and takes about 10 minutes generally.

Yes did mine at Pattaya Soi 8 last year (no charge) but now you will have to go to the new immigration in Jomtien Soi 5 you can download the appropiate form here http://www.pattaya-immigration.org/other.php

The one in BKK takes considerably longer than 10 minutes.... its interesting, though ... A read Tower of Babel type of experience. I could recognize many of the languages being spoken, but there were several where I had no clue.

correct.

I've done it too, but once only, not 3 times. in Immigration (I think office on 3rd or 4th floor on Soi Suan Plu) they told me to go to embassy again and get a paper certifying that new passport is real, not forged or anything. after I've got it - immigration has transfered visa and made a huge stamp in new passport (whatever they wrote here - something explaining the reason for transfer etc).
