Why you shouldn't use YAHOO

Featured Replies

I just read the article below recently since Yahoo shut down my site for non payment on the same day payment was due.. I was seriously mad because I thought I had been paying for 2 years at a time, in addition to the fact that I've had my site for many years and have always paid on time. Yahoo said my site expired on 04/07/2013 which is actually a day before a true year. They shut my site down right away because credit card wouldn't except a charge. For me, I completely forgot about the email which the site is attached to until today which was my first time reading that the website domain bill was overdue, " I would think because it is a business website that they wouldn't shut it off immediately but they did, that same day they couldn't charge my card.

I am apparently still with in the thirty days which they made a threat that if I didn't pay with in that thirty days they would delete my emails and my data on my website and would not be able to retrieve it.. At this point I am looking for something to kill ( Joking ) ....anything because trying to get a hold of someone on a Sunday when your business has been shut down is impossible. This is pure stupidity on Yahoo' s part. Because I will never buy another domain from them and once I move all my websites, I will talk out against them as a very dissatisfied customer. So I will change all my emails accounts to gmail or who ever, but I will no longer use Yahoo.

In a very quiet manner, Yahoo has announced to its existing domain name registration customers that they are increasing the cost of their annual renewal price. Yahoo is increasing the domain name renewal cost from $12.95 to $34.95 per year. (If you also choose the optional WHOIS privacy registration then you will be paying $43.95 per year for a domain name.)

This move has been very low-key, and other than the email I received (with just a brief a side-note) and the increased cost in my billing information, I would not have known. I have tried to look on their website and have not been able to find this information anywhere so the public can have full disclosure. In fact, at this point, they still advertise the $9.95 domain name registration fee (which is only for the first year). As a result, I wanted to spread the word to ensure that anyone who currently has a domain name with Yahoo is not blindsided when their domain name renews automatically and to inform anyone who may be considering Yahoo for future domain name registration.

I just

A pretty fair comment on cloud computing in general, and a reminder to keep a local copy of anything that might be important

Hosting your domain with Yahoo is pretty sad itself. Go get selfhosted wordpress.org asap !

I think this Is standard practice and i fail to understand your rant. You failed to provide a valid credit card for auto renewal and u also said you forgot to check your email which I am sure had a few payment reminders. If you pay within the 30 days stated they will restore your website.
