Yingluck's ice cream team of spin doctors have been very slow on this one.Years ago in the bird flu crisis, Thaksin boldly ate a piece of chicken at Sanam Luang to convince the sceptical Thai public chicken was safe to eat.

Just last month his adorable sister posed eating rice to assure the nervous public Thai rice was safe to consume.

Clearly in this instance, our fetching PM should put on a one piece swimsuit and plunge into the crystal clear water at Ao Prao to assure the doubting Thais and tourists it is safe to visit and swim there again.

What a glorious picture and boost to tourism that would present! Our own dear PM gliding gracefully through the turquoise water in a sleek, brand name swimsuit with a broad smile on her face.

I applaud she is not going. Thais love photo ops (maybe do a reenactment like police?), but would disrupt and serve no useful purpose. Jimmy Carter went to 3 mile island, but he was trained as nuclear engineer. Otherwise, these official visits just waste resources needed to clean up the mess.

Anyone with the smallest clue of what being in charge means would be there in person to get first hand accounts of the situation on the ground to asses the situation. Specially in Thailand were CYA is a national sport and misleading reports are to be expected*.

*Like PTTs announcements, "only 50.000 liters and we already cleaned 90%", "all fixed in two days", etc, etc...

Arriving in Bangkok, she said the situation in Koh Samet is returning to normal, referring to the reports from Energy Minister Pongsak Ruktapongpisal.

I was elected to read, not to lead. bah.gif
