Lopressor, betaloc, petapropol needed

Featured Replies

Hi,

I can't get my blood pressure medicine in Petchabun and need to pick some up on my wayout of Thailand. Is there a pharmacy between soi 3 and soi 23 that will have some? I'll be there Tuesday.

Thanks

If by soi 3 and 23 you mean Sukhumvit in Bangkok, there are plenty of pharmacies.

There is a large one near Suk Soi 2, opposite soi Nana and up a bit.

There is also a good one just west of Soi 15 with wholesale prices.

However I very, very doubt that this medication is unavailable in Petchabun. It may be unavailable in brand name lopressor, and it is not available anywhere in Thailand under the two other brand names you mention, but there are many locally made generic equivalents. Just ask for metoprolol. It is one of the most common medications to be found. Write the name down and show it to the pharmacy staff as they may not understand it spoken but it would be a rare pharmacy that wouldn't recognize this written down.

I've had no problems finding either metrolprol or betaloc anywhere in Thailand. I did have to buy a pill splitter to get just the dose I need, however. No big deal. Of course, I checked with my doctor in advance to see if it was OK to split the pills (it was).
