Sometimes ok for 2 or 3 hours then i lose the connection, on clicking on the bars at the bottom of the screen it ses Not Connected to Home Wireless and underneath ses Limited connection, sometimes doing a troubleshoot etc seems to cure it and other times it seems to completely disconnect from the wi fi set up and has to be re connected, any advice would be great.

worth checking your battery settings and make sure wireless adaptor is fully enabled..

I'm using off the mains, also my daughter has a laptop and she never complains about any wi fi problems !

I have the same problem in Norway. Have 10 different units connected to the WiFi net, but only one drops out. My samsung PC with Windows8.

So probably a Microsoft problem.

Try having your laptop connected as the only wireless device on the system. (IE ask daughter to stay off for a few hours, switch off any tablets, wireless printers, smartphones etc) If the problem only occurs when more than one device is attached, it MIGHT be the router settings.

If however you can stay connected overnight and daughter connects and throws you off, then look at the router's DHCP and/or static IP settings.

I got the same issue Alfie. Easily taken care of by the quick right click repair on my wireless icon, but still a minor pain in the butt. Its either gremlins or Bale's fault.

How many different items (laptops, mobiles, etc) have you got connecting via WIFI? Most routers will only allow a maximum of five. When we're all in the house, with three laptops and four mobiles all trying to connect I often get a similar connection problem.

Sumrit - Indeed and this is related to my suggestion.

In my experience, most routers are set to a maximum of 5 as the factory default, however it is usually easy to change - for example, I've set mine to 9 - see attached screenshot. Also notice that my router is set to issue IP addresses via DHCP.

Alfieconn - If you do change this setting, I suggest that you leave the starting IP address set as it is and increase the ending IP address because the starting IP address may be what the manufacturer needs as a minimum - you should ONLY change the last box of numbers (i.e. in my example, 192.168.0.x)

There are some fairly technical reasons for this and please make a note of how things are set before you start changing anything, that way you can go back to where you were.

Try updating your drivers. There are few cards like intel that have an issue with this, which can be fixed by updating your drivers to the latest version.

Send me a PM if you any further problems.
