Opps...no alcohol from 6pm the night BEFORE the election until midnight at the close of the election day. No exceptions for farangs who can't vote anyway....though hotel mini bars remain open.

In some ways Thailand is like Puritan America.

Went only 6:00 pm, but the pubs have been open from 4:00 pm, yesterday.

Biz as usual in lower Sukhumvit.

We live near the Shangri-La hotel so we go there often for dinner. Last night the lobby bar was closed and the restaurant would not sell wine. A sign said that because of Thai law no alcohol could be served from 6pm the day BEFORE the election until midnight after the election. In short: 30 dry hours.

Wonder why Sukhumvit was different.

Anyone know what the Thai law is on the subject of closings during elections.

Also, what is behind this no sale of alcohol in the stores between 2 and 5 pm?
