It all started when a truck bumped into a taxi turning into a waiting bay near the Tan Son Nhat Airport. The taxi driver became angry with the truck driver who didnt take kindly to the abuse and proceeded to Karate kick the taxi driver. Thats when all the taxi drivers appeared and kicked the living shit out of the truck driver. Fun and games in HCMC.

These rogue taxis are a pain in the butt and one of the reasons I hate going to HCMC.

Isn't this sort of thing only supposed to happen in LOS? At least according to many TV posters?

No, no, no... It does happen at other places too - it's just at times we choose to ignore or forget.

Saw something similar in KL a couple of years back - one driver rocked up drunk, sideswiped another taxi and tried to drive off. They caught up to him at a median strip and, in full view of the public, gave the guy an absolute hammering. He tried to drag himself back into the cab, but they grabbed him by the legs and dragged him back out - it was a horror movie, one that our cab driver felt compelled to stop and watch till I reminded him that he had passengers in the back.

None of the 'Thats beat up on Farang' videos I've seen come close to what they did to that guy - if he's still alive, I doubt that he can walk unaided. Still feel safer in KL than Sydney or Melbourne, but that's not a terribly high bar, sadly ....
