Cosmetic Dermatologist - anti-aging in Bangkok

Is Dr. Wichai Hongcharu at St. Louis Hospital still the best doctor to see? Or is there someone at Bangkok Hospital or BNH or Bumrungrad or Bangkok Pattaya Hospital?

I want to reduce wrinkles and maybe rejuvenate my skin a bit. I'm a 50 year old male.

Since I'm rather new to this, I'd prefer a Doctor who won't just try to sell my on his/her specialty.

I take it you do not mean "anti-aging" medicine but rather cosmetic dermatology. (Which can make you look younger but in no way changes the aging process)?

If so what exactly do you have in mind?

For botox and fillers my preferred doc is actually in Phnom Penh but when i have to see someone in Bkk I sue this doc at BNH. He is by no means the least expensive but he takes his time to get it right:

If you want a series of IPL treatments ("photorejuvenation") any number of clinics can do it, I would usually go to Romrawin (many locations).

If you want a deep peel or laser ablation I've yet to find anyplace in Thailand with much experience n this as not popular with Thais. Fraxel can be gotten and again I'd probably use Romrawin for that but means a series of treatments spaced out part and doubious it will do much for wrinkles. (Thais usually want it to even out blotches/whiten the skin).

Sorry yes

Cosmetic dermatology. Is there a place to go to get a relatively honest assessment and recommendation on what to do?

Thanks for the information I will have a look at their websites.

I must say that I have yet to find a place in Thailand that can give a reliable overall assessment/recommendation of the "what will make me look better" variety. You need to be specific as to what about your looks bothers you and what you would like fixed/how. Bear in their frame of reference is local standards of beauty. left to their own devices they will focus on how to make your skin look whiter (seriously!) and may well overlook what you find important.

You have to be quite directive. And may have to repeat it a few times. Some of the docs here, even though they know in theory that farangs aren't interested in getting whiter skin, still can't internalize the idea. Making skin white is the universal goal/obsession in Thai cosmetic dermatology.

Thanks again Sheryl. I definitely don't need to be any whiter, I don't think :)

While doing research online I came across this site http://www.onlinedermclinic.com/ . They're a US dermatology practice that does online consultations. You send them photos. They may be more honest as they presumably know they won't be doing the procedures themselves??

Any one try something like this or have direct experience?

Just found this one in the UK: http://www.onlineskinspecialist.com/consultant-dermatologist

No experience but if they will give you a recommendation only can't see the harm of it. As mentioned, you pretty well do need to know yourself what you want done before consulting someone here (and then strictly enforce it).
