Snake filmed coughing up dog in Bangkok in a grisly video

Featured Replies

Hope the dog wasn't someone's pet.

A python has been filmed regurgitating a fully-grown dog on the streets of Bangkok in a grisly video which has been viewed over 100,000 times online.

A bystander in Thailand's Burana district, a busy urban area south of the city, captured the gruesome act of nature on a mobile phone.

As the snake stretches its gaping jaw over the animal, it slowly starts to bring it back up before finally spitting it out.

Warning: the above video may be distressing to some viewers

Since being uploaded to YouTube and LiveLeak, the video has been viewed more than 100,000 times and has attracted hundreds of comments.

While snakes are often filmed devouring their prey, the act of disgorging is rarely captured on video.

"It seems like a typical case where the animal's eaten something, because it's hungry, but with snakes once they have eaten a large item they can't really move very well," Australian Reptile Park reptiles and spiders supervisor, Julie Mendezona told ninemsn.

"All that commotion is spooking the snake and he can't get away quick enough. He's probably pretty scared at the moment, so what he's trying to do is get away."

No idea how to embed the video
