Urine, very strong bad odor

Featured Replies

In the past few days, I have had a very strong bad odor in my urine. Nobody is expected to pee perfume, but this is not the usual acid smell neither been provoked by any special food, like asparagus, that I am aware of. I have not had any alcohol for months, so that is also no a question. I drink a lot of water and a lot of apple juice. If the thing persists I will have to go to get it checked and hope it is nothing. Any suggestions about what it might be would be appreciated.

Maybe I should have also mentioned that I am doing a high proteine no carbs diet at the moment, with a lot of red meat

Thailand has good cheap clinics and doctors. It is well worth checking anything like this out.

This is typical of a high protein diet; smell is due to ketones in the urine.

Thank you for the comments. I'm changing back to a "normal" diet and it seems to be getting back to normal.

The link above didn't work, but thanks for posting it anyway.
