October 17, 201312 yr I see there is another tread about 5 year renewal but there it seems people have different experience with what the transport office ask both in Phuket and other provinces. So I allow me to ask if anyone know the actual rules when renewing a 5 year license when its based on a International (legal) driving license from abroad. Last time I renewed I only had to give them the expired Thai driving license and copy of the International license, watch a movie and no demand about any eyesight test or reaction test. I don't have the eyesight I once had so it would be great to know for sure what to expect. Thanks Felt.
October 17, 201312 yr If you have an old Thai license then no need for international license. Also need a certificate of residence from Immigration, or Work Permit or Yellow Tabian Baan. Produce passport plus supply copies of relevant passport pages. The eye tests - colour, reaction, depth perception should be required but recent reports indicate this might not be required - depends on the officer in charge.

October 17, 201312 yr why you want to miss the reaction test, last time when i was there it was so much fun watching the locals do it.
October 17, 201312 yr Author I found this online http://phuketdir.com/pkttransport/ so it seems only a eye test is required if all other documents is okay.

October 18, 201312 yr As is the case with all branches of the Thai government, there is no 'cookie cutter' way to do anything.
October 19, 201312 yr Just go in with your old licence, thats all I did and supplied all the other requirements, doctors certificate, proof of where I live, passport etc, did not need to have a wp. Then you just do all the eye/reaction tests, took me an hour or so all from the time I walked in.

Quite right, no need for a Work Permit if you can supply a Residence Certificate from Immigration, however if you have a WP or Yellow Tabian Baan then that's good to go also.
