Flooding in Isaan

Featured Replies

We are planning a trip through Isaan in a couple of days starting in Khorat, Pimai and Ubon before moving on to along the Mekong. Can anyone tell me what the flooding conditions are in the first three locations? Should we postpone until a later date?

Thanks

Water's going down, you shouldn't have any problem...

Mukdahan City is as dry as a bone, we have had no flooding here and the Mekong River has been lower all through the rainy season than what we normally see, probably the lowest i have seen over the 10 years i have lived right on the river bank here.

Woke up this morning to a village full of water.

People who have lived there 70+ years swear they have never seen flooding this bad before.

River has been rising slowly since the last heavy rains a few days ago and still coming up.

This is as of 21 Oct. @ 10AM.

Had to take a long detour to get to Korat from Choke Chai two days ago, HWY was flooded, but open on the way back a few hours later.

I would call the situation " unpredictable" at the moment.

How important is it that you take this trip right now?post-147745-0-89054300-1382324658_thumb.
