The Thai Dunkin Donut

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

I went to Tesco in Singburi yesterday. There is a Dunkin Donut shop in the mall. They had a special on a new chocolate donut filled and covered with chocolate, so I tried one. I was surprised that was really full of creamy chocolate filling, but that wasn't the biggest surprise! When I started eating it is was suddenly hit with a month full of chocolate laced with chilli. I asked the clerk and she said that both of two for their new chocolate donuts have chilli mixed in the filling. Where else in the world but Thailand would you get a chocolate chilli donut. Yuk!!

Somebody picked some up and brought them home, I was being sneaky and took a nibble, I nearly died :)

I asked the family and I think they're pretending that they like them they are truly yucky.

What's next chilli toothpaste ?

Yeah, and be careful of mr donut also.Thai people have some strange taste buds.I just get regular glazed or the chocolate frosted. No problems there.

Chocolate and chili are a match made in heaven!

Consider the dark Mexican mole sauce ...

Also Mexican hot chocolate drink is sometimes made with hot chilies.

Chilies originated in the Americas. They know!

Seriously, they match excellently. I can't speak for the donuts. I would question the quality of the ingredients in those.

I agree that a mole sauce fixed properly is delicious, not to be found in Thailand. But I draw the line at a "surprise" mole filled chocolate donut (doughnut for the spelling brigade) for breakfast! Yuk, Yuk and another big Yuk!! Chicken mole, great, but donut filled with mole, unbelievable!

tried the doughnuts my self and loved them also a fan of chilli chocolate bars

i think the doughnuts the op is referring to are the new charcoal ones

taste is different here, still after so many years here cannot get why mixed fruit must have red kidney beans in, or corn, I do like both but not in with sweet mixed fruits, still pull them out as dogs like anything I eat so think there getting same.

Agreed lots of what seems strange turn out to be an amasing complement - strawberry's and black pepper, drop of balsamic vinegar on vanilla ice cream, but charcoal doughnuts laced with chilli hmmmm I'll take a miss, I asked the Thai family again and now I'm getting honest answers - disgusting.

My only other gripe with DD is the staff they hire with a voice like a fog horn who usually waits until I'm steps away to blurt out some none sense and scares the life out of me, it's not the doughnuts that will kill me it's a cardiac arrest.

Donuts should be called Do-nots anyway. Do they come including insulin?

Yeah for sure, Dunkin and Mr Donut are not as good as in our home countries. However Krispy Kreme are just the same as in our home countries. When I go to Bangkok They have all 3 within sight of each other in Paragon. Mr Donut and Dunkin have no business. Even the Thais won't eat them. But you have to wait in line 10 minutes at Krispy Kreme. If Krispy Kreme would just have stores in a few places besides Bangkok. They'd put the rest out of business.

Neither does the booze you drink. We don't need a lecture. I'm 183 cm, and 75 kilos, and have been off the sauce for 5 years. And eat what I please, thank you.

good cancer food

sugar + fat + fried = heartattack waiting

I have seen BBQ characol donut. These black "characol' donuts are this new healthier choices with some wild flavor choices.
Probably some good flavors to make a Donut burger with

depends on whether you follow it with a Thai Visa posting or a jog.

Doughnut for breakfast UGH

I thought my wife had weird eating habits putting chili and sugar in her dishes.

i remember that a few months ago i had found swiss cholocate (i think it was Lindt brand) with chili at The Mall. dark chocolate with chili. i bought one and it wasn't bad, although not entirely to my taste... i would not buy it again.

but i don't know how good the dunkin' donuts mixture is...

'Mister Donut' gets my vote (without the chilli) giggle.gif

Both Mr Donut and Dunkins Donuts have went a bit crazy with their prices, better to buy from Tesco, their donuts are cheap and very good.

Can't wait to get home to Thailand from work to try one. Sounds fantastic clap2.gifclap2.gifclap2.gifclap2.gifcoffee1.gifcoffee1.gif

I guess to each their own. I tried them and thought they were delicious, especially with a nice hot cup of REAL coffee.

I enjoyed them.

When we were in Belgium this summer they had spicy chocolate as well. It wasnt in donuts but was pretty much the same thing.

dark chocolate and chilli... not that new and not unique to Thailand...

Discover Excellence Chili - a unique and sophisticated taste experience from Lindt’s Maîtres Chocolatiers. This harmonious combination of Lindt’s finest aromatic dark chocolate with the well balanced spice of premium red chili will exhilarate your taste buds. Contains 47% cacao

And when I asked why they offered for sale only the "charcoal" varieties, I was told that it was a promotion. All of their other, better-deluxe donuts have been out of sight lately. They used to have some very sinful but scrumptious flavor combinations. But the charcoal varieties are not at all appealing, in my estimation. I reckon I will just have to go without until the charcoal promotion expires.

As for the pending heart attack: all things in moderation, even donuts and McDonalds.

I must try one of these today ..... what's that old quote ..... "try everything at least once except incest and country dancing".

Ich bin ein Berliner! Remember that one? No idea with or without chilies.-w00t.gif .

sugar + fat + fried + a post oi belg= heartattack waiting -biggrin.png

Would love to try one - can anyone take back a couple to Berlin? smile.png

I hear rumors that they are planning a new sales program for the cut out donut centers with spicy icing. They will be called "Hot Holes". wai2.gif

Mexicans go nuts with the chili. Popcorn with chili and lime at the movies, chili in beer with citrus.....seriously spicy beer! A spicy donut sounds gross, though.
