Speed Camera Spotted

There is one on Wiset road, Just past friendship beach going down into Rawaii

The camera on the corner of Wiset and Kabur roads (Kabur road is the one that goes to the cemetery and garbage dump) I think is only a surveillance camera for the Marine Dept.

It appeared there last year some time after boat loads of Rohingya landed at nearby Friendship Beach.

Cheers

Got a speeding ticket in Korat a year ago, fine arrived in the post to the cars reg. address here in Phuket. with photo of the car and speed 120 in a 70 zone and fine 500baht. Very professional but the driver not visable.

I took it to Thalang police station to try to pay it. Silly me.. brilliant they had never seen anything like it, lots of shouting, laughing etc then cannot pay go Korat !!!!

After having it read by a Thai. paid it by post... and got a rec. in the post 2 weeks later.

Where is this fine list from rolleyes.gif

.......................and then try this...........

60-zone and lower 70-zone and higher 90-zone and higher

Up to and including 5 km/h over

Thb 3000 Thb 3000 thb 3000

6-10 Km/h per hour over

Thb 8000 Thb 8000 Thb 8000

11-15 km/h over

THb 15000 Thb 15000 Thb 15000

16-20 km/h over

Thb 20000 Thb 18000 Thb 18000

21-25 Km/h over

Thb 30000 Thb 25000 Thb 25000

26-30 km/h over

Confiscation of driver's license Thb 32500 Thb 32500

30-35 Km/h over

Confiscation of driver's license Thb 38000 Thb 38000

36-40 km/h over

Confiscation of driver's license Confiscation drivers licence Thb 45000

41 km/h over

Confiscation of driver's license confiscation drivers license confiscation drivers l.

From one extreme to another.

Just from the back of my mind but I think it actually would slow down the traffic if enforced. Now with all the effort (in my experience) done here to avoid, delaying and paying bills I see the speed cameras only as another media show for the public and the international audience. It will whatever the size of fines never function.

Would be good if it works, but no one would/ could pay the fine and I would think 25% dont have a license to confiscate.. 10 years to early I think! rolleyes.gif

What is the speed limit on that section of road

People seem to drive there anything from 75 to 130 KPH

Phuket Gazette reported that no speed signs will be posted because the Thai police claim that all should know that the speed limit in town is 80 K/H and out of town 90 K/H. The article also states that the Bypass Road will have a speed limit of 90 K/H. Does this mean you can go 90 in front of Home Pro? So where are the other speed cameras? I found the one by the Pearl Toyota southbound on the bypass in this thread but where are the other 3?
