Jasun Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 I don't think many would argue that Australian seafood is the best in the world, unless you were from New Zealand.

PEP Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Sardines are very healthy, but, IMO, taste like sh*t. Those red cans from Roza company you see everywhere, my wife calls sardines, are of course mackerel. Not sure if I have actually seen sardines. I thought they mostly tasted of the tomato sauce they come in, can't compare them to sh*t, never had it. 1
PEP Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Yes MOST of those RedCans from ROZA are indeed Mackrel. Have a look in the adjacent shelf and you will see "Three Ladies Cooks" Sardines also Mackrel. If you [similarly to me] do not like that yucky Tomato Sauce (?) then look for AYAM brand Sardines in Oil.
tim armstrong Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 I have often looked for AYAM brand sardines in oil - without success. AYAM mostly sell sardines in tom. sauce like everyone else. I even emailed AYAM - but nothing back. Imported sardines can be had at Villa supermarkets - but expensive. Oh where is John West ? perhaps I'll email them too.
