A good idea for the Thai landlord would be to turn the site into an Irish Bar. Posted ImagePosted Image

Need to sell a lot of the black beer to cover over 300k baht pm of overheads!!!
Overheads and fix costs wasn't the problem If "management fees" are taken out after and not before

Enough said I think

Sorry "Sharp" not clear whether you are referring to Scruffy Murphys or the Absolute Pub?

Due to certain circumstances I've been privy to the goings on in both outlets and have just been sent a ( message) nudge to leave it there sorry xylophone but I think u know a little more also ;-)

I will not miss it. After the tsunami, the place was rebuilt and food sucked since 2005. Never went back. Had the roast at the Irish place in Jungceylon, a couple of years ago.

Seriously, must be just Irish by name. As one poster said, paint the place green and call it an Irish bar. Go figure.

This is intriguing. Come on guys, lay out the dirty laundry, and soon. I have to read Cat in The Hat at 2100 hrs for the 397th time.smile.png

If it was the Irish pub on bangala next to Mcdonalds it is for sure gone forever now ,

they leveled the place today and hauled off all the scrap in dump trucks.....

amazingly the machine did not destroy all the adjoining buildings as well now that the Irish pub is gone can see what a poop hole that area. Behind bangala really is.

I don't think it is a great loss; I always preferred the vibe at the little Irish bars back on Nanai (especially the ones with dart boards) and hated the fact that I couldn't afford to by more than one pint of proper stout.

"I don't think it is a great loss" - many small losses can equal a big loss.

Yip, the lease was up and as usual the increase in key money and rent made it to expensive to keep open, i remember the original farang Irish band, the place used to be jumping, but as usual they put a philipino band in like every other bar on bangla and in my opinion it turned it into just another bar

I remember both bands you have mentioned. I enjoyed the live music in there.

For me, it was a place that was in between an outdoor beer bar and a nightclub. It was good to have the option to call in there for a pint and cool down in the a/c and catch some live music.

Im sorry its gone Ive spent many a midday there and a few in the evening, with a cool draught beer, it was a small oasis from the crowds in the street rolleyes.gif

A (empty) Irish pub under Aussie management changed to a Phillipino band which played Russian music.

No wonder it is closed and its not a loss.

The good old days where long gone I'm afraid.
