Oil cleanse for skin

Featured Replies

Hello,

I'm about to try making and applying some oil cleanses for my sensitive, acne prone skin after being inspired by these two articles :

Elephant Journal - Forget Sephora: Winter Skin Care Samadhi Starts with 3 Homemade Products.

Elephant Journal - Oil Cleansing: How to Have Amazingly Clear & Radiant Skin.

I'm planning to use mainly coconut oil as the base, since it is so abundant here, not to mention being very good for you however you take it. I get my coconut oil from the Aden organic superstore near Mo Chit (GPS / Google Maps coordinates are 13.830087,100.536929 / Google street view). They also have a shop in Chiang Mai and they will take orders over the phone or the internet, but their website is terrible.

I've also found this place in Bangkok which seems to be a good place to really geek out on essential oils - as opposed to most of those fragrance / aroma therapy shops in the malls which sell some essential oils but don't seem to be very knowledgeable.

There are all sorts of recipes / combinations on the internet, such as this one which doesn't even bother to mix anything : just straight coconut oil. As mentioned, a bit of geekery is probably required to find the right oil(s) for your own skin. Apparently, castor oil should be avoided by people with dry skin and olive oil is a bit tricky since it is really has to be the pure virgin stuff and unspoilt or it can be problematic for your skin.

If anyone has experience with this or is willing to try I would love to compare notes!

Trembly :)
