Some more early impressions about the phone. Nothing really surprising based on the research I did, but here goes:

1. I am noticing the quad core performance. Adequately snappy for my needs.

2. The battery life really is impressive.

3. The video quality and screen is quite nice at least for my standards.

4. I am fearful 4 MB will be a problem for the set memory. I am finding most apps I have installed can't be moved to the SD.

5. Even though one review didn't like the shipped UI, I see no problem with it.

6. I am enjoying the change from Samsung, not that there is anything wrong with Samsung.

7. The audio speaker (which I knew from reviews) is indeed crappy. For that, the Oppo would have been MUCH better (and also cheaper).

8. I am finding the Lenovo brand is very UNIMPRESSIVE to some Thais I have shown the phone to. This to me that is a PLUS. I don't want a status symbol or a theft magnet. I reckon I-phones or higher end SAMSUNGS are what most Thais want and would be impressed by.

9. The SIZE of this phone is simply PERFECT for me. As big as I could have done and comfortably carry in my pocket. Thin and light enough.

10. I haven't even tested the camera. I wonder when I will. It's supposed to be good. (The rear one not the front one.)

Surprised you can't move apps as you want. In settings apps you should be able to set it so all future apps are installed to an SD card if you wish. Get yourself one of the mini speakers available everywhere for around 250 baht or for home use 400 baht gets you a set of Creative A60 speakers which are also a cheap way to improve tablet performance or go up another level if you want some bass, but at those prices it's not going to be audiophile quality but still better than what you normally get in a phone. Lenovo I think is now the biggest PC maker in the world depending on which figures you read but they're still not as well known in Thailand as Samsung for many people, more so regarding phones. While people love taking snaps on their phones, I think if you use any sort of regular camera then cameras in phones are still pretty underwhelming.

The apps that be cannot move to the SD card are the ones included with the OS image loaded on the phone

They cannot be deleted either, :bah:

The choice of Android apps out there is amazing

Torch, stress monitor, heart rate, sound level meter

are a few that I have loaded

Many are free. When you do have to pay it is rarely more than $5

and there are usually trial versions before you commit your hard earned cash.

If you download 'Clean Master' from the app store it will help you keep your memory tidy and move apps to the SD too.

Moving apps to SD card option was removed from Android beginning with version 4.0.4. The device now has to be rooted to do so.

I've got Android version 4.1.2 on my phone and new apps, at least in my settings, can still be moved to a removable SD card when installing to help best use the available space, but my i-mobile version of Android is fairly basic (cheap phone) unlike say a more heavily modified Samsung version.

Plenty of free SD card apps available in the Play Store for moving apps to the SD card but they usually say they don't support moving apps to SD Card on certain phones e.g. some Samsung models because the memory is shared with the system and disabled by the manufacturer.

AppMgr III (App 2 SD) is the most popular free SD card app on Play Store. Haven't used it myself because I just deleted all the apps that I rarely if ever used but maybe worth a try if running low on memory and if compatible with your phone.

Also believe that's not correct.

My stock, non-rooted Samsung mobile runs Samsung's ICS 4.0.4 and has always been fine for moving permitted apps to my microSD card.

But as I noted in a prior post in this thread, there are a lot of apps, including many of the most common Google add-ons, that are written to NOT allow running on SD cards. But that's a function of the apps' settings, not the Android OS.

Not true. I have a non-rooted phone with Android 4.2.1 and I move all the apps that I can to the SD card.

Just bought a second hand note 2 @ 9,000 in Tukcom. Make sure for second hand Samsungs that they are Thai models because then they are covered by Samsung warranty. I had a problem with my phone, brought it to Samsung and they replaced the entire electronic for free. Technically it is a brand new phone!

Ask the shop to make a factory reset and if the first thing you see is in Thai, then you know it is a Thai phone.

The big difference between the cheaper Samsung phones and the expensive ones is the screen resolution. Big screen is one thing, but if there are only few pixels on it, the picture is not clear. This is especially important if you want to read stuff.
