Let them smell the back of your hand 1st and if they lick it, take a step back. If they follow and you can pat their head then they are in.biggrin.pngcheesy.gif

Chooka, you're not the only one that thinks the suns will make the 8 next year... I think they're a red hot chance, might have even mentioned it in the previous thread - too lazy to search it to confirm though...

I think GC are a sneaky chance as well.

I think Hawth, Freo, Syd and Geelong will make the top 4 again

and after that there will be 7 or 8 sides fighting for the next 4 spots.

Make that 3 spots, The WCE have 1 spotrolleyes.gif

I was entirely sure at first, but then I couldn't really see anyone taking

their spot.

James Hird and his legal team, consisting of a QC threatened to take Andrew D and the AFL to court over Hirds payments and put Andrew on the stand. Tanai Hird basically calls Andrew a liar now the AFL have relented and allowed Hird to be paid out in full if it is done before the end of the year.

I think Andrew was shitting his pants about being put in the box and having to publically tell the truth and be found out as a little lying weasel.

Pay impasse broken: James Hird to be paid early

The dispute between the AFL and Essendon over coach James Hird’s pay has been resolved, with Essendon to pay the suspended coach's 2014 contract in full before the end of this year.

In discussions on Friday, the Bombers and the league resolved that the ‘‘implied terms’’ of their settlement deed were that Hird could not be paid by the club for a period of 12 months.

Speaking of the GC. They are losing their high profile, high performing signing back to League.

Id sill see them just outside the top 8. Maybe a couple of big upsets. Can't remember how there draw looks

He was a heap better than Israel Folau was for GWS.

All the fuss about what Buddy gets at the Swans and look what they paid Folau at GWS to learn how to play AFL. I'd give him a D+ laugh.png

Hunt was miles better than Folau and he actually saw his contract out.

Yep, what a flop that was.

I saw him interviewed a few weeks ago. He sounds like a lovely fella.

What an athlete he is. Representing Oz at ARL and then dominated in

his first year in union for Australia. I guess we still have to say he played

Champion athlete, but couldn't make the transition to AFL. probably would have been a gun full forward if he grew up with the game. Still, he got the AFL soooooo much publicity out in the Western Suburbs of Sydney.

AFL crackdown on 'duckers' under new rules

The AFL Commission approved a raft of changes on Tuesday for season 2014 after hearing recommendations from the AFL Laws Committee.
These changes applied to:
- Head clashes involving bumps.
- Players leading with their head to initiate contact.
- Forceful contact below the knees.
- The use of strength in marking contests.
- Reducing the number of runners from two to one.
- Automatic penalty for being in the protected area.
- Use of the interchange.

Boys, I really like the "strength in marking" contests. Too often

we see the stronger guy getting penalized. A good result for Buddy methinks.

Players leading with their melons is another good one also.

Not sure about giving the umps discretion over the "restricted area",

it will put a lot of pressure on them. I thought maybe just a 20 metre

penalty.

What do you think fella's?

The use of strength in marking contests??? <deleted> isn't it the strength of opponents that makes it a contest? It's not soccer, it's a contact sport so stop watering the game down

That's what they're trying to do chooka. Give the stronger player more leeway whereas before

they were giving free kicks away just because they were stronger.

B

Overall I like them, be interesting to see interpretations throughout the year.

- Players leading with their head to initiate contact.
Good rule. Will stop any further milking of penalties...or limit it at least
- The use of strength in marking contests.
Great to see. Marking up forward is what we all like to see and it is good that there is scope bding given to rewarding strong marks. From the wording of the rule, it will allow a large scope of leeway for teh umpires....(unduly meaning free kicks only paid against a player who "unduly pushes, bumps, blocks or holds…" in a marking contest.)
- - Automatic penalty for being in the protected area.
Not sure about this one...could change a game or two. One issue this year was no enforcement of players coming into the protected area at the side to stop the kicker from running around. Enforcement of that would have been enough. Automatic penalty is a bit much

Fair enough, it sounded like if you were a bigger person you had to stand back an let the little weaker guy mark it. You know mum standing on the sideline getting pissed off because little jonnie was going to mark then big bruce took it.

Jolly, Gilbee round out St Kilda coaching appointments

DARREN Jolly has joined St Kilda, two months after speculation that he would fill the ruck role vacated by Ben McEvoy's trade to Hawthorn.

However the retired former Magpie, Demon and Swan will be coaching rather than playing alongside the Saints' young ruckmen, after accepting a part-time position under new head coach Alan Richardson.

St Kilda finalised its coaching appointments for the 2014 season on Saturday, with former Western Bulldog Lindsay Gilbee becoming the club's development coach and Simon McPhee appointed manager of the player academy.

Collingwoods membership count is quite misleading IMO.

For example, they have 3 game membership packages, memberships for babies under one,

memberships for people who can't or don't go to the footy etc etc.

20 000 of those memberships are for people outside of Victoria also.

It would be interesting to see how many memberships are for general admission and for reserved

seating.

I know a lot of clubs have packages for juniors etc, but counting 3 gamers as members is a bit rich IMO.

Brisbane have 3-game memberships, too. I've got one for the afternoon games at the Gabba (don't like night games).

They even have pet memberships, too. laugh.png I don't think they count them in the total though.
