Thailand allows it's citizens to enter on a expired passport.

She can fly and make a new passport here.

You don't say where in Thailand her Mum is but there is a new Thai passport office opened in Pattaya

She can apply in Khon Kaen which is not too far away.

The passport normally takes about a week and is posted back.

Best to apply here, takes only a matter of days and it is sent by EMS within days.

Very good info mate. Will have to remember that.

Does that mean though she is allowed to leave the country of origin? This may cause issues at the immigration counter or check in area. Surely one can't leave a country without a current valid passport?

Sorry, just noticed her pp will still be in date at departure time.

If one is leaving Australia to go back to their country of birth,

DIAC aren't really concerned whether the passport is current or not.

Thanks all for replys i phoned thai embasey london and they said that thai airways will take her with 1 week left on passport and other airways will need her to have 6 months on passport so i think just best to delay and do here only £25 and then sure no problem

They gave you incorrect info a Thai can travel to Thailand on an expired passport.

Fill in info here and you will get info from IATA data base that all airlines have access to.
