Ex-MPs leave parties to join Pheu Thai ahead of Feb 2 poll

These MPs could have chosen to join the Dems. But why would any MP do that? It would be suicidal for their carreer to join the only party that aims at destroying democracy and allow the minority to rule the majority through an unconstitutional set up. They also know that the Dems will never be able to win an election, as long as they persist in favoring dirty tricks rather than doing real politics. Having heavyweights of other parties joining PT could be a good way to flatten the Dems even more in the next election. A party that openly supports the overthrowing of an elected government and the mob rule does not deserve respect. It is good to see politicians join hands under the PT banner to kick these criminals out of the game  Sent from my HTC One using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

Gerry these 220 are the criminals.

They have been convicted and sentenced to 5 years ban from politics.

'Suicidal to their careers', what careers ?

You call those convicted criminals heavyweights ?

They are only trying to get back into a position where they can continue the corruption that got them the 5 year ban in the first place.

You are correct that any party that supported the red rioters who were attempting to overthrow a legal govt in 2010 deserve no respect.

That is the same party or a reincarnation of the party who were in opposition at the time and who have been in power for the last 2 years with 11 of the leaders of these riots as either MP's or cabinet ministers.

And if you want to talk about convicted criminals then tell us why one that we recently sentenced to 2 years jail is still the PT spokesman.

Yes these 220 who have been convicted of electoral fraud will fit in perfectly with PT.

How can anyone take Thai politics seriously with politicians switching sides as easily as they do ?

There is no conviction to a cause or belief only a '' what's best for me ? '' attitude.

They know they haven't got a chance of getting anywhere in their own parties so they are changing sides in the hope that they can get a constituency or high enough up the PT party list to get a place round the honey pot.

They should realize that there are 220 of the 5 year banned lot who are also going to be fighting for these places.

Didn't PTP already say, they were planning to run with their existing list, a few days back ?

If so, that might well limit their room to manouver, or offer new-arrivals & old post-ban friends anything ?

Don't think so Ricardo.

Is reported elsewhere today that Prompong (who should be in jail) has said that the positions will be finilised soon and that over 500 have applied for list places and over 400 for constituency .

This is the thread I was thinking of, sorry it took a while to dig it out !

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/688745-pheu-thai-affirms-it-will-send-original-representative-for-elections/

"The Pheu Thai party affirms that it will send its same representatives to take part in the next general elections"

So on the 13th, it was reported no-changes, now the race for places at-the-trough appears to be wide open again ! facepalm.gif

It's sometimes difficult, with so many new threads on the same topic being opened, often whenever a new news-item appears, to follow the thread-of-news through.

Not helped by the way a party, or several of its various representatives/spokepeople/leaders appear to take different public positions, making it hard to know what their policy actually is, and I wouldn't claim this is limited top only one party. sad.png
