Popular Post Pattaya28 Posted December 24, 2013 Popular Post Posted December 24, 2013 Maybe if Thais spoke understandable Russian Chinese and English, they would be able to hold their own as a tour guide. 32
Popular Post Spare Posted December 24, 2013 Popular Post Posted December 24, 2013 How dare Farangs take away Thai jobs. Thai people not poor enough? Farang not rich enough? 5

JoeThePoster Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 Foreign Tour Operators Taking Thai Jobs How about some out-of-the-box thinking like making tourism business a restricted occupation. No wait !

Popular Post anon8 Posted December 24, 2013 Popular Post Posted December 24, 2013 Yeah, but if a Thai would try to sell a trip to Quai river, or a day trip to see some cave, 6 hrs of bus ride away to a Russian tourist, he or she wouldn't sell even 1 trip a day. Russians don't understand Thai, Russian tourists here have been told to watch for scams, and now they suspect scam on every corner. They only trust a Russian tour operator. But Thais get lots of employment out of the deal, the only Russian who took job away from Thai, is a Russian chick or a guy, offering tour leaflets to passing Russian tourists, and arranging the day trip scedule and payment. Popular Post anon8 Posted December 24, 2013 Popular Post Posted December 24, 2013 '.. and the chief of the Illegal influential people suppression operating center, to prevent and suppress the influential people that are threating areas of Pattaya and Chonburi.' LOL 7
Popular Post chooka Posted December 24, 2013 Popular Post Posted December 24, 2013 And how many Thais are working abroad taking away jobs from the locals there? I'd bet a bunch. There are loads of them and many working illegally in restuarants etc. Many got busted in Melbourne Aust last week, working for cash in hand in resturants not paying taxes, employers not paying superannuation or declaring earnings. Happened to a nieighbours son, he is now back in Thailand after being deported after getting caught up in the raids. 3
NongKhaiKid Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 '.. and the chief of the Illegal influential people suppression operating center, to prevent and suppress the influential people that are threating areas of Pattaya and Chonburi.' Popular Post Tokay Posted December 24, 2013 Popular Post Posted December 24, 2013 Thais refuse to learn languages to better communicate with the tourists they want to provide a service for. Foreigners who can communicate step up to fill that void. Thais get angry and are too arrogant to see their own short comings. As it was said above, totally predictable. ASEAN is going to be awesome. Can't wait. 15

Can't wait. I was quite surprised when my wife's uncle called and asked to speak to me. He doesn't speak English at all...at least until now! He works for the border police and they now have a requirement that all officers need to take classes to speak English. His daughter is also helping him. He's now on Line with my wife chatting in English. I'm blown away. Maybe there's hope yet? Of course my trip to the local car dealer yesterday wasn't so good. Hardly anybody there could speak English and the one or two who did could barely communicate. Disappointing. 1
CraigSchuler Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 My first two trips to Thailand I used the services of Thai guides and as I look back now I was pretty much ripped off at every stop of our day trips. 1

For a sneak preview, go look at the UK right now. Yes, I have met very few Britts that actually speak a language that is understandable, I can understand why they are loosing their jobs to more linguistic people...

Really...?? 4

Popular Post madmitch Posted December 25, 2013 Popular Post Posted December 25, 2013 Looks like there are no foreigners taking Thai jobs at the Pattaya Daily News. Surely only a Thai could write English as badly as in this article! 5
LuckyLew Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 Teach thai people inrish and cutmer churvish and not be neebing dis goup
Popular Post PeterSmiles Posted December 25, 2013 Popular Post Posted December 25, 2013 Maybe those Thai tour guides should first learn to speak a language that foreign tourists understand, then there would probably no reason to hire more expensive foreign tour guides. 3
