About accident on Christmas Eve (Patak Rd)

Hi,

On the night of christmas eve there were quite fatal accident on the hill between Chalong and Kata.

I was one of the first ones arriving there and stopping for help, there were three people down and one of them was in really bad shape.

He had lost his leg, the leg was literally laying two meters away from him and I called ambulance and tried to do the best to stop bleeding while waiting for help.

I saw his IDs and he was from Estonia.

Does anyone know / have heard did he make it?

I've seen nightmares of him dying and I just really hope he made it. At least he was still breathing when ambulance arrived.

If anyone knows, I'll be really thankful.

It´s Christmas, no reporting of anything.

Same night a 58 year old Italian man was attacked by two thai males on Bangla Road, they hit him in the head with a full beerbottle.

The hospital managed to repair him with 65 stitches.

Be careful in Phucket, it´s a hellhole, like so many other places in LOS...

PS: And how do I know this? Wife´ s niece who live with him, phoned yesterday and told it.

Nothing reported in media. What time did this happen ?

Yesterday, while in my house, I heard five sets of sirens during the day, from midday to night time. These sirens came from Viset road down in Rawai, each set was a few hours after the last.

I wonder how many of these events were reported in the media.

4 days 'till new years eve.

Take it easy out there.

Estonians have some website here, maybe you could contact them and ask if they have any information. http://www.phukest.com/kontaktid.html

Today during one hour ride to Phuket town I saw at least 3 to 4 ambulances with the lights on, some with sirens. I guess only few of the accidents are reported on local news. It was not so long ago when one of the TV members reported an accident here on Phuket forum, which was picked up by local news organizations.

OP I do not have the answer for you sorry, just a comment.

"tis the season", I'm on the roads in Phuket every business day and for the last five have seen no less than three accidents a day.

Last week coming out of Patong a car literally stopped in the road at the elephant camp ("look honey, elephants"!) as one motorbike went under the rear fender, a motorbike taxi with blonde lady onboard swerved but just clipped the corner of the fender bike, driver and blonde went flying. When the blonde got to her feet she looked like a boxer having been knocked out, staggering around in the road.

My days off I stay in my little hood this time of year.

Be safe everyone.

I must admit, at this time of year, I do not ride my bike for leisure at all, and only use it out of necessity.

Too much traffic. Too many inexperienced riders. Too many people riding whilst intoxicated. Difficult to park.
