Shipping or Posting Query: What's the best way to ship 275kgs of books to the UK?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Can anyone advise me of the best ways to ship a large amount of books to the UK?

This is my personal collection (NOT 'merchandise' or stock), weighs approx 275kgs and would take up about 1.25 metres (one and a quarter) of space. Certainly no more than one and a half square metres.

I wondered if anyone knows of a special 'book' or 'printed paper' shipping rate that i could use?

Otherwise, if using space in a shipping container is my best option, can anyone recommend some reliable shipping companies?

Many thanks in advance for any ideas and suggestions!

I don't know about shipping to the UK, but the only cheap shipping method from the US to Thailand is what they call Airmail M-Bags which are strictly for the International shipment of printed material and cannot be used for commercial purposes

Since Thailand subscribes to the International Postal Convention, I would assume that if they honor this system for incoming mail, they would have the same or similar system for sending out of Thailand

I would have a Thai speaker check with a large post office, explaining that you want to ship printed material of non commercial value to the UK

Thanks for the tip.

I had considered 'M Bags' but according to the Thailand Post website they are 3850 THB surface, 6050 THB air for a maximum of 20 kgs, so not much cheaper than standard Airmail. :-(
