telldem Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 This topic May be a little morbid or morbidly obese, But with a country having 70 million people in it, there has to be a few "Dexters" running around causing mayhem. I never hear of serial killers on the loose in Thailand. Only this fellow.
Popular Post AndersM Posted December 28, 2013 Popular Post Posted December 28, 2013 What about that piece of garbage they caught a couple of weeks ago who was raping and killing kids? Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app 4
telldem Posted December 28, 2013 Author Posted December 28, 2013 I forgot about him. Very sad for his victims and their family. They are still investigating that, it could be that the BIB are trying to pin unsloved cases on him. They are good for that. But If its true, he deserve to be in the box with the guy above.

The mummified corpse of See Uey Sae Ung (labeled as Si Quey on his display case and sometimes also referred to as Si-oui or Si Ouey depending on who is writing about him), the most notorious serial killer in Thai history is on display in the Songkran Niyomsane Museum of Forensic Medicine. A Chinese immigrant who moved to Thailand in 1944; See Uey suffocated and then ate the hearts and livers of over a half dozen male children. He apparently believed that the practice made him stronger, healthier, and by some accounts, immortal. He was captured and executed by hanging in the 1950s. After an autopsy, the cadaver was filled and covered with paraffin wax to preserve it. In recent years, the museum has added a film educating visitors about the story of See Uey. Over the years, See Uey has become a bogeyman for Thai children, as parents threaten misbehaving kids with a visit from his ghost. The case of See Uey Sae Ung was also adapted into the 2004 Thai thriller Zee-Oui. 5

Popular Post somchaismith Posted December 28, 2013 Popular Post Posted December 28, 2013 Most of them are covered up. However here's one, On June 5, 1999, Mohamed Elsayed Ghanam, an Egyptian tour guide was arrested in connection with the murder of six foreign tourists who vanished after arriving at Bangkok's Don Muang airport over the past eight months. Police say the killings were carried out between August 17, 1999 and April 6 and followed a similar pattern.Chanam Said Muhamad, 35, was arrested after European Union embassies confronted the Thai government about the murders and expressed concern there may be more victims. The killer and his accomplices, posing as tour guides and private taxi drivers, allegedly targeted tourists who had just arrived in Bangkok. They waited for the victims at their hotels and at the airport, offered their services, then robbed and killed them. Mohamed has denied carrying out the killings and has blamed two associates from the Middle East. All six victims -- two Frenchmen, an Austrian, an Iranian, a German, and a man from the United Arab Emirates -- were stabbed to death. Interpol repeatedly told local police the murders could be linked but Thai authorities failed to launch an inquiry. 5

Popular Post 1ma Posted December 28, 2013 Popular Post Posted December 28, 2013 Good tales on here: http://www.chiangmaicitynews.com/news.php?id=1290 The Macabre Case of Prompiram The Macabre Case of Prompiram (2003) was made into a Thai film. The real crime happened in August and September 1977. After a mentally disabled girl’s body was found on railway tracks in Prompiram, Phitsanulok, it was later discovered that she had been raped by more than 20 local men, and then killed. Sacrifice a Daughter to the God Indra – the whole family involved On 4th October 2004, in Damnoen Saduak, Rajchaburi, a young girl called Papatsorn Jiamjalern (12) was killed by her own mother, Karnjan (50). The mother, along with with the grandmother Bua (68) and two aunts Anong (45) and Jarin (32), had agreed to sacrifice the daughter to the God, Indra. All were arrested and taken for psychotherapy. The One Baht Cop Killer This only happened 21st August 2011. Gas station attendant (Petrol Pump Boy) shot an ex-policeman and killed him in Chanthaburi. The suspect, Rit Predatham (37) admitted that he shot him because he refused to pay the one baht extra that he had over-pumped. He confessed to police that he was in a bad mood that day. The Murder of Sherry Ann Duncan and the Ill-fated Scapegoats In 1986, Thai-American, Sherry Ann Duncan went missing from school. Her body was found three days later. Four men were ‘quickly’ – when foreigners are involved cases MUST be solved fast to save tourism and Thai image – arrested on only one man’s testimony. Years later the case was reopened and the four men, it seemed, were innocent. However, one man died in jail, another had been severely crippled due to the torture he’d been through when police were exacting his confession, and two more died right after their release from jail. The kind of thing one thinks might only happen in Hollywood. The police involved were finally arrested and the murderers were caught. Unfortunately, even though this case highlighted the seedy aspects of Thai police work, there are many more cases in Thailand where scapegoats have been used, especially when foreigners are involved. 6
Popular Post Prbkk Posted December 28, 2013 Popular Post Posted December 28, 2013 One of the worst was Charles Sobraj. Lived in Convent Road near BNH, killed about 20 ( or more, but never convicted in Thailand As far as I recall). 4
Rumpole Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 As Prbkk posted, the chilling stories of Charles Sobhraj were still doing the rounds in Bangkok in the 80's and 90s: http://www.crimeandinvestigation.co.uk/crime-files/charles-sobhraj-the-serpent/crime.html;jsessionid=6595507206FC013E459748009B5464DE He is reported to have said something along the the lines of "In Asia, always prey on other foreigners, as then the authorities will be less interested". 1

scubascuba3 Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 Interesting one that,Sobhraj is currently in prison in Nepal. Wikipedia added a few details.

The last two people were executed in 2009 , before that in 2003, so I don't know where you get your info.
farang000999 Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 Looks like foreigners had easier visa rules and no work permits back then...
Costas2008 Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 So what?....Do you want to see more serial killers? So TVF members will express their disgust and offer condolences to the families. Better keep it low as is.

Ulysses G. Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 As Prbkk posted, the chilling stories of Charles Sobhraj were still doing the rounds in Bangkok in the 80's and 90s: Exactly. The posters who keep claiming that Thailand was much safer in the past and is so terrible now need to read some history. Thailand has always been a somewhat dangerous place. However, I feel safer here than in a big city in my own country.
mrtoad Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 There was the bloke a few years back in Bangkok that went around murdering security guards. Can't remember the name or year, certainly in the last 5 years or so.
noikrit Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Most of the serial Killers are on the roads ....

1ma Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 The Kalasin Police force circa 2003-2005. "The police in Kalasin are well-known for their ruthlessness. Kiettisak's case resulted in the first prosecution of more than 20 extrajudicial killings allegedly committed by police officers of the same station in Kalasin during 2003 and 2005. No one has been held responsible for any of those other deaths." http://www.hrw.org/news/2012/08/24/thailand-ending-kalasins-police-reign-terror A case which vividly illustrates the climate of fear in which Thai witnesses live is that of Kalasin Province, in North Eastern Thailand. Kalasin is particularly sinister for its sheer scope: the Asian Human Rights Commission alone has identified some 24 killings between 2004 and 2006. The true number is thought to be far higher - some bodies have never been found; others have been reduced to ashes before proper identification. In many of the cases, victims were young or underage individuals accused of motorbike theft, drug dealing or other small crimes. Add to this the cruelty of the methods employed (many of the victims were tortured to death, and had their testicles burned, crushed or electrocuted) and things start to look very ugly indeed. http://www.chiangmainews.com/indepth/details.php?id=2121 1
