1 During the recent cold spell have needed to charge my car battery, once full how many days or 12 degree nights before wll need again.

2 Checked and added about 50ml water (a cupful) of distilled water,Can garages here check potential and add electrolyte, not sure how to explain once you know the Ph acidity can compensate

Finally seeing 6xAA and two freeAAA for our remote controllers for 35 bahts today in Lotus bought a couple of sealed packs I also wondered how long such new unused batterys are good for months, years? If long shelf life should maybe buy a few ,I realize these are not Duracell quality but as mouse ,aircon torches etc devices often left on in errro seems extravagant to buy top notch.

We have tried solar but poor value like most unbranded stuff here.

Tanks in anticipation,my neighbour advises only using Car charger in warm 25 degree daytime ,I realize damp in night is counterproductive but surely an overnight charge right up to starting the car at 8am when its around 15 degrees is better than switching An honorable discharge?

Or better off night before?

Assuming your car isn't stood for long periods, or used only for short journeys, you shouldn't need to charge your battery. A regular requirement to charge suggests a fault in the charging circuit, or a dying battery. 15oC nights are no issue, actually the battery will probably perform at its best (not too hot, not too cold).

If you're worried take the car to one of the specialist battery places, they have the high-current tester and ought to be able to check the electrolyte (famous last words there).

Your AA and AAA batteries should have an expiry (best before) date on the packaging,

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

The acid in your battery does not go bad. If your battery over two years old replace it, as it is probably going bad.

Generally does not pay to buy and store more than a few dry cell batteries as they go bad.
