Pheu Thai Party launching election campaigns tomorrow

BANGKOK, Jan 3 – Pheu Thai Party will kick off its campaigns for the February 2 general election at five different spots in Bangkok and four other provinces tomorrow.

Pheu Thai leader Charupong Ruangsuwan said a campaign rally at Muang Thong Thani in Bangkok will start at 4 pm simultaneously with similar activities in Khon Kaen, Chiang Mai, Ubon Ratchthani and Nakhon Sawan.

The pre-election campaigns will continue until January 30, he said.

Referring to a report that the Election Commission (EC) has invited leaders of the Pheu Thai and Democrat parties for discussion, Mr Charupong said he has not received any invitation.

“What right does the EC have in making the invitations? The EC’s duty is to hold the election. If I’m invited, I won’t be stupid enough to show up to be bombarded by two parties (the EC and Democrat Party),” he said.

Sompong Amornwiwat, director of the Pheu Thai election centre, said his party will not campaign at Ratchdamnoen Avenue or rally sites to avoid conflicts and disorder.

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra will concentrate more on national administration without too much involvement in the election campaign, he said.

Pheu Thai spokesman Prompong Nopparit urged the EC to take legal action against protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban and other anti-government protesters for disrupting registrations of election candidates in several provinces.

Pheu Thai secretary general Phumtham Vetchayachai said the party has put up campaign billboards and posters asking for a return to continue the party’s unfinished policy and promising to crack down on corruption. (MCOT online news)

I've heard Thaksin has a scheme to corner the world market on Thailand's other big earner, hookers. Sure to be an opening there somewhere for the world's smartest businessman.

Some suggested vote-winning PTP-policies :-

"Vote for Us, if you ever want to get paid, for the rice you recently delivered to the warehouse !"

"Amnesty for Abhisit & Suthep, Oh & for Dear Brother Leader too, Not that He's done anything Wrong, Of Course !"

"Every School-Child to get a Lap-Top Not Just Like Mine !"

"50-Year-Loans-R-Us !"

"PTP ... A Wholly-Owned Family-Subsidiary We You Can't Trust !"

"A Pie-In-The-Sky For Every Family !"

"Increased Minimum-Wages, sometime or other, at the appropriate juncture, in the fullness of time, and long after inflation has eroded any effect !"

"Your New Car Can Be A Life-Long Asset Debt !"

"Vote For Us, or we'll put up the interest-rate, on all your new loans !"

"Free Money, from the BAAC, terms & conditions apply, and you might not get paid !"

"Our Word Is Our Your Bond !"

"Stamp Out Nepotism & Corruption ... Vote Anybody Except PTP !"

"Vote PTP ... or there will be another peaceful protest coup !"

"Free Ringside Seats ... for Chalerm's execution !"

Don't give up the day job............

Yingluck posters went up along Petchburi Road since January 1.

Looks like the body is faster than the head...

Anyway, I see too many legal and other problems for the election to proceed as wanted by PTP: From not enough candidates in the South to candidate registrations in secret. DId they inform ALL candidates of the secret meeting to register and is it permissible to register in a non-public venue like a military installation?

I hope PTP is wasting a lot of money during the campaign, kind of a reverse flow of profit, from the big-wigs to the small people in the villages <g>.

I sincerely hope these people are smart enough to avoid the areas where the protestors are. It could get ugly.

Cowards they are---K KHEN, UBON, NAKORN SAWAN, CHIANG MAI. So why not Surat ??? and far south. Good percent of police will be on duty to escort these big wigs at high speed with sirens and flashers going. Holding up ordinary Thai people at intersections. Thai sick style.

Difference to western countries only TOP flight people, Presidents-royalty in these countries anyone else would drive or fly or train it NOT HERE these people act way above their station.

I was an officer to HM government and never in a million years would I expect police rapid escort. people here with only EO officer jobs expect this cover----sick society, and a burden on the treasury.

Nice coming from a Pheu Thai fellow, the party which keeps on telling the EC what they should do and what is legal and how the constitution should be interpreted in this case.

I don't think those posters will hang there for long... and I don't think that she'll be hanging around for too much longer either.

These Pad Thai people do not need vote and care about Thai people from the south. That's why there so much hatred. Have you seen the crab woman going south? All we see are her big head photos which I feel so disgusted.

No matter what we must get the wonder crab woman and her injustice league out!!!!!!!

Let's see how is it going to like for the 2 Feb election you Pad Thai Partyw00t.gif

Personally I feel her BIG head photos are very irritating and are traffic hazard indeed. Maybe that's why the death toll on the road is higher!

For starters, try and google Suthep and corruption in the same search!coffee1.gif

(475.000 hits in 0.23 secs)

Before I get the question!! Same search for Thaksin:

(1.280.000 in 0.34 secs)

So if any posters here honestly believe, that any of those two gentlemen are the answer to Thailands problems, I am afraid you are very wrong!

The only politicians I can think of for a better future here is either Korn Chakivanij or Surin Pitsuwan!

What a charming fellow. I only hope the EC remembers this when the PTP demands another waiver for the upcoming elections.

Well the EC obviously need guidance on how elections should be held judging by the erroneous statements that have issued from them. If the Election is not held according to the constitution you would probably be one of the first on here to bleat about it, so why decry the PTP for guiding the EC?

Sounds like an admission he knows nobody wants the election except the mafia family...
