Economical New Car For a Woman

I'm looking for a cheapish new car for my wife. Can anyone recommend one that I could pay for monthly? I did hear that there was a car for about 3000 baht a month available but can't find which one it is. ANyone know what the cheapest monthly payment would be?

@OP you have probably noticed advertisements for Nissan "Easy Pay" which has very low monthly repayments, but is actually a lease that requires a 15-25% downpayment to start, and has a 45% balloon payment due at the end (i.e. you're only paying off 30-40% of the car value in instalments).

If your wife is a government employee, she can qualify for extra long repayment terms (up to 9 years) on a normal hire-purchase contract, which will mean low monthly instalments.

Outside of that, sjonburi's post is spot on.

My wife bought a new Mazda 2 Sports end of 2011, she picked the car and colour.

This adds up to a car that she genuinely likes as it was the one she wanted, realistically speaking. This means its something she cares about as it was her choice.

If I asked for a motorbike and someone provided my with a Wave when I was hoping for a Z1000, then I guess would not really "be in love" with it.

Must say the car is very nice, interior is cool and while the economy isn't the best in class I think its a great little car. Never had any issues with it.

Depends what you're willing to pay down.. Take the Mirage for example, pay 25% down and finance it on 84 months = 5,538.00 / month installments Doesn't get much lower than that..

I just can't imagine making payments on a car loan for 84 months.

I see the car ranges in price from 380,000 to 546,000

Assuming you're quoting prices for a mid-range Mirage, (at 460,000), DP = 115000 + 465192 in monthly payments is 580,192, so that's just a bit over 25% extra from the list price. I guess that's not too bad but I wouldn't do it. I just hate paying interest on anything I buy. I suppose if the financial institutions would give some decent interest on our savings, wouldn't mind so much.

Interest is only about 2.5% on these cars, so that amounts to about 10% over 4 years. So a 500K car would cost 550K at the end of repayments. I (actually my wife) got a swift an am quite happy with it. One of the better looking eco boxes on the street. The mid range auto is about 500K and the top auto is 559K.

You can just imagine what the Reliant Robin club though when he rolled the car when arriving at their club meeting. Those things were disasters.

We bought a Chevrolet AVEO in 2011 (our Colorado got flooded) it runs on CNG/NGV (factory fitted) fill the tank for 120 baht...get 150kms to the tank...cheap as!

I would recommend any small car that runs on gas would be the most economical.

What happened to neeranahm? We give all these good suggestions and he hasn't come back!

Here I am. Thanks for the suggestions. Actually 8 years repayment would be fine. My current car was that long and it seemed to fly by. I just bought a house so can't afford much of a down payment. My wife has a pretty low paying job.

The mirage looks ok and there's always the March.
