anon467367354 Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 I think this is the real thing. I've never blown it, bought it about a month ago near Siriraj
Thailand Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 This is so funny. Don't copy my fake whistle. What Copyright, "if it copy good it copy right" Copyright in many parts of the Far East is understood to be " The Right to Copy"
KonKorat Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Clowns in a gigantic Circus..The entire country! i can't beleive that this made the news! Bahahahaha
Pops Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Quote: [The announcement also asks for understanding from anti-government protesters, stating that vendors of counterfeit whistles are profiting from opportunistic business ventures which would undermine the channel′s enterprise.] The irony of this ! A TV channel, which has very opportunistically made "premium lightning shaped whistles", to profit from some political unrest situation, states that vendors of "counterfeit" whistles are profiting from opportunistic business ventures !!! Have they actually patented their whistles ??
Gsxrnz Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 I think this is the real thing. I've never blown it, bought it about a month ago near Siriraj Hmmm....made in Japan I see. Pity they couldn't have bought locally, considering the political correctness and all.
HKChris Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 I was told that all this stuff - the ribbons, whistles, bands etc. - are made by a company Suthep has a financial interest in - is that right? Can anyone substantiate that? 1
Alwyn Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Copyright infringement? On a whistle? Sounds like corruption to me! Blue Sky must protect its monopoly interests at the protection sites for sure! Can't have any honest competitive capitalism now, can we? Doh!!! You beat me to it!! Almost my thoughts exactly!
canuckamuck Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 I would love to know how many whistles Suthep has sold so far. A million whistles at 1000 baht would be a billion baht. And they are likely a 50 baht or less item. Not a bad little profit, This is the first evidence that he is not totally bonkers.

ianf Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 'Counterfeit' whistles This blows. Wrong. This sucks!

Thais been blowin' Japanese whistles since WW2. 5
Nickymaster Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Oh the irony!!!! Irony? You expected Blue Sky to say; Copy as many as you want because the more the better? Nick did you get your official bluesky whistle with your contract:D Are you trolling again or you really didn't know that Bluesky is a free channel? You can watch by satellite or internet.
ginjag Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 I have often wondered. Is there a Thai word for irony ? My friend says she has the Thai word for the thing she uses to press her dress.
overherebc Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 This is so funny. Don't copy my fake whistle. What if it's genuine fake copy ?
Tiffer Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 They should all be wearing big shoes and red noses as well
goldmonky Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 I think Yingluck should make a statement regarding this important issue. Sent from my iPhone using ThaiVisa app she prob. owns the factory that makes the real whistles LOL
Popular Post catmac Posted January 16, 2014 Popular Post Posted January 16, 2014 I guess this is the first example of how the PDRC will implement 'legal' reform. Kangaroo court for street vendors! Power to the people! All hail Suthep! And why not? Damned street vendors come from dirty, uneducated places like Isaan, otherwise they'd be nice, white-skinned hi-so's driving Benzes like the good people do. Good grief, next thing they'll be wanting the vote! 6
rreddin Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Come on !!! No one can be that stupid, everyone knows that you can only copy foreign products in Thailand. Sent from my iPhone using ThaiVisa app They are probably all made in China and the lantard as well.
Loles Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 The origin whistles are with Yingluck portrait only. I guess her knickers are pretty full 999 Baht priced whistle, fair offer to Chinese yellow protester who posted in Facebook with big table: " I'm dam_n rich, I don't want 2000 B / day for my protest!" I have seen many comments there, this was the most popular: "you are dam_n idiot" 1
Hawk Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 'Counterfeit' whistles This blows. Wrong. This sucks! I need one of those then. 1
diehard60 Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 And suthep is not corrupted. he probably had themmade so he could make more money for himself.
winstonc Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Business is Business ...... same as the guy trying to copy starbucks i do believe lets not have double standards eh...it may only be a whistle but i bet you would be pissed off if you unwittingly thought you paid for the real mc,coy then finding its a copy..rules is rules as they say... 1
PaulHamon Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 show my your patents. Surely whistles are in the public domain, since the copyright would have expired well before copyright even existed. Mr Whistle (and Mr Crappa's) family would still be getting royalties today?
Lupatria Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Furthermore, Blue Sky channel would take legal action against manufacturers of these counterfeit items, according to the statement posted on Facebook. The outcome would be interesting as Montblanc, Hermes, Apple, Luis Viton, Prada, Microsoft etc. etc. etc. are trying this for years... 1
ajarnmarc Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 One can only wonder what the punishment shall be if you're caught selling counterfeit whistles??? Just when I thought I had heard/seen it all within this unique country, here comes the mess behind a simple whistle. Another day or two and the protestors will have much more to worry about, than a childish whistle. The rice farmers are coming...and they have a legitimate compliant to sort out. One can only hope they don't get distracted by these child whistles, that everyone seems to be so proud to put into their mouths. These toys could of come in handy during kids day...NOT!
IDL Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 IT'S OFFICIAL! Yep, I have now heard it all! In a place where copying is a culture, worldwide patents infringed by all, from top to bottom. Someone has blown the whistle and gone and got all upset over their 'unique' little racket-maker being duplicated by another. Beyond that, words fail me. 2
CIHUAHUA Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 You know it wasn't a "red-shirt" company that made the fake whistles.
lostmebike Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 And four pages later, you guys are still talking about whistles.
