Obtaining a residence certificate Kap Choeng immigration.... expired DL surin?

I need to obtain a residence certificate in order to renew my 1 year thai driving licence that expired 6 months ago.

Have any members recently done this at Kap Choeng Immigration?

Ive read on a few threads that some immigration dept’s do NOT issue resident certificates and thus seek clarification.

Or can I go to the Surin police station or local town hall to get this certificate?

If you have knowledge on whether I actually need to get a Resident certificate to renew the license in surin that would be appreciated. Can I get this renewed if Im only on a tourist visa? Some places in Thailand don’t allow it.

Kap Choeng Immigration does issue certificate of residence they do it daily. 500 baht. There ares reports that you might go to your local police and apply. Yes you do need the COR and a medical for renewal in Surin. This is a standard requirement at all LTD's in Thailand.

Surin police station will not issue one as they will direct you to Immigration. I understand Buriram police station does issue them

Another source has confirmed that this has just happened.
