No need for Cabinet to consider announcing state of emergency yet: spokesman

BANGKOK: -- The cabinet meeting Tuesday did not consider the announcement of emergency decree as police and other security officials authorised by Internal Security Act were able to control the political situation, according to government's deputy spokesman Parkdehans himathongkom.

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra insisted that the government would use no force and violence to control the situation, he said and noted that unarmed officials and police could take care of the situation.

Phichit farmers to head to Bangkok

BANGKOK: -- Phichit-based farmers are planning to head to Bangkok this week for the ultimate goal of ousting the government, which is now blamed for rice-pledging scheme's delayed payment.

"We will mobilise hundreds of farm vehicles in our march to the capital," Northern Farmers Network's chairman Kittisak Rattanawaraha said Tuesday.

Farmers and supporters of the anti-government People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) decided to end their rally in front of the Phichit City Hall after their activities failed to get any response from the government.

RT @Lerlaforever: Suthep: 3 months we have protested as government turned down constitution court rulings, corrupted, abused powers

RT @Lerlaforever: Suthep: They persisted to issue a law to help Taksin from receiving term jail

RT @tulsathit: Questions will also arise whether emergency decree will complicate Feb 2 election or make it controversial.

RT @tulsathit: Emergency gives govt immense power to censor media, make arrests, end gathering. All practically with little or without legal consequences.

RT @Lerlaforever: Suthep: With the decree, they can use measures against us and put charges against us.

RT @Lerlaforever: Suthep: IF anyone of you feel threatened, pack ur stuff and go home.

RT @Aim_NT: I will wait and see what the govt is gonna prohibit, we will violate all of those: Suthep.

RT @Lerlaforever: Suthep: Tmr will be fun. Whatever they warn us not to do, we will do.
