Hi All - I am now applying for a Schengen visa for my Thai wife for Spain and France. We will be in Spain the longest so we will apply their.

We just go out Marriage Cert back from the MFA and my wife is on the way to the Irish Consulate to have it legalized or what ever they call it.

When submitting this document to the Spanish VFS in Bangkok i presume a photocopy is acceptable?

Thanks

I would take the original and a copy, when my partner applied for a Schengen Visa last year, she took both, they compared the two and returned the original.

My wide got the documents back and all the Irish consulate did was stamped them with the official stamp and signed it. We also had them legalized at the MFA etc.

Now i read this on the Spanish VFS global Page -

Spouses of EU / SCHENGEN / UK Citizens are advised to submit an approval letter of Marriage from their respective Embassies along with the Thai Marriage Certificate. Just a stamp on the Thai Marriage Certificate from the respective Embassy will not be adequate.

Can i ask did you submit this approval letter ? I presumed the stamp was what was needed.

Thanks
