Wireless broadband in Chiang Mai

Featured Replies

Traditionally I get a couple of sims for our mobiles at 7 eleven and a sim for my usb dongle for the laptop/iPad to keep in touch with email etc during our semi annual holiday in Chiang Mai. I have used True the last few years. Just think what are members thoughts on the best plans now. With tethering maybe the dongle is not required anymore depends on data rates I guess. I would appreciate some feedback. Thanks

Best results for me are with AIS. I tried True last year on the second phone, but by comparison I found their coverage to be a bit patchy.

Last year I used Dtac and they were fine, recently I used AIS and they were just as good. I got 2-GB of data for 600 baht and 3-GB was 800 baht from memory. The mistake I made was I didn't get phone credit because you need that to check your data balance which I thought was strange. I only had ten days so I had more than enough data for the IPhone and tethered Net-book.

Thanks mate, AIS it is then.

I use True+ daily on 3 phones and a 3G tablet - never had a problem here (I live in Hang Dong, so a fair way from town - but wherever I have been in CM never had a problem). Can't comment on the others as only had True (btw 3 are on post pay - 1 X 3G and 2 X (fast)EDGE ) and one, the tablet, is on pre-pay).
